Sure beats the shit out of going all Karen and demanding to see the manager and then threatening said manager with a bad yelp review, or litigation... Last edited by Sataninjaku; 05-06-2020 at 07:20 PM.. |

A buddy of mine who owns a shop and gets most of his product through EE doesn't tend to observe embargoes as it appears to be entirely honor system with little teeth as far as enforcement. Just look at how often Walmart obliterates street dates. And as far as some shops getting and selling their figures before street date... that happens so often across the board companies might as well not have them. I'm not sure when Hasbro or any company is going to understand that concept. Street dates are probably a licensor requirement and I respect that Hasbro (or insert name of toy company here) is merely seeking to uphold that date, but you simply cannot have them in this age. Collectors will out.
Anyway, I'd also like to hear some of your insights Dorkside. Blast away and regale us, please! Also the larger retailers (Target/Walmart & Amazon) who break embargoes don't get in trouble/fined or any of the other crazy stuff you may hear. If they're selling an embargoed item on their website and another retailer reports them they simply get asked to pull it down. This is very common. To just give a little context here, most companies who sell Hasbro do not have a direct relationship with them. That includes every ebay/amazon seller, comic book store and 99% or more of the online stores. The reason being the minimums to get a direct account is very high....7 figures. As such almost everyone turns to EE. They're the largest Hasbro distributor in the U.S. and the only one who truly has their sh!t together. I mention this because the Joes that are showing up early in some places originated from EE and the following is a very brief overview of why you might see an item shipping at a some random retailer that you might not expect before it ships from Pulse, BBTS or even us. Hasbro allows retailers to order goods a couple of different ways. We place our orders via domestic stock which is Hasbro brings goods over from China and then distributes them to retailers. In some instances where we need a thousand or more of a single sku we may do a direct import. Direct imports are as the name implies, products are shipped directly from China to the retailer. With the Joes, EE imported them directly. Importing can be a crap shoot, most of the time the imports arrive after Hasbro's domestic stock but this time they didn't so it's a win for EE and their wholesale clients. So the next you see some guy on ebay or your local comic book store gets an item in stock early and you wonder "Why (insert your retailer of choice) has not shipped my order yet" that's mostly likely your answer. |

That's not uncommon, it's hard for distributors like EE to police all their clients. Unless another retailer (us or BBTS) complains to Hasbro about it then nothing is done. There's no Hasbro police searching the internet looking for companies who break embargoes.
