Yeah I have 0 faith in Paramount since they make movies for China, not the US, but this news has me out and waiting for the home video release.

Not complaining, but why couldn't he be an established Cobra character? There are certainly plenty to choose from.

Storm Shadow has no brother! MOVIE RUINED! BOYCOTT!!

I guess characters named Slash, Slice, Dice, Night Creeper Leader and Black Dragon aren't good script names.

Probably so they can kill him off at the end of the movie without burning off any of the major named Cobra characters. And it's not like anyone but the hardest of the hardcore would be totally psyched by "Takehiro Hira as Cobra Slash" or whatever (assuming it's supposed to be a ninja-related character that doesn't result in killing Zartan, Storm Shadow, or Firefly in the first film).

Little bit of that, and a little bit of "nobody but the hardest of hardcores is going to give a crap about any of those characters."

But it's a reboot regardless. People really need to stop thinking that this is any sort of adaptation of the ARAH mythos and start coming to peace with (or not) the idea that this is the start of an entirely new mythos that might wear the trappings of ARAH in some ways but is mostly going to be its' own thing. This isn't for us (though they'll certainly be happy if we watch it and buy the merch). It's to try to capture a new audience.
