Hahaha The answer to that question, as always: "Hasbro should buy big media company??"
Personally, while I watched the MOTU toon as a kid, I can't watch it now. It's terrible. It wasn't my favorite back in the day either. Not only was it second-tier compared to GI Joe and Transformers, it always irked me it was so different from what I thought MOTU was. I got into the toys as a kid largely because of the awesome package art and the cool mini-comics. I never got why He-Man had to be a superhero with a secret identity. And Orko...I think they modeled Olaf (Frozen) off of that annoying turd. MOTU did not age well. It seems even cheaper now. |

The fact that MOTU and TF were my first "post playmobil/fisher price" toy lines probably exacerbates that a bit- I'd pretty well already been through the figures and was done with them around age 5 or 6 (though I perhaps cringingly stayed with Joe until the very end.) That being said, I'm thinking that even being a continuation of the original, maybe being made from a more modern perspective will help a bit. I am curious either way, and I'm happy enough that it's not yet another trash reboot, even if Kevin Smith is involved- while his high points have been pretty high (loved his work until Dogma), his low points have been pretty damned low.

I guess I’m sort of stuck in the 80s (who amongst us isn’t I suppose) and prefer my MotU 6” and nice and chunky. I don’t know that I’d be interested in a 1:18 scale Masters, with one exception, I’d would enjoy a Grayskull, but it would have to be the same size as the Classics one, just have the doors and windows resized for the smaller scale. Imagine a 18x24” Grayskull for a 4” line. That might sway me.
Check out my modern He-Man collection in the link below.

There is hope!
He-Man is getting a new cartoon series on Netflix, but it's not a reboot. It's picking up right where the 80's cartoon left off. Let's hope this does well so that Hasbro does the same with GI Joe https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/man-...155631601.html The cartoon animation is from the same people of the new Castlevania anime...

The (probably sacrilegious) truth is that I feel that way about most of the 80's-90's animation I loved so much as a kid, the exception being the few anime I liked, Akira, etc. I generally try and avoid watching GiJoe, TMNT, TF, MOTU, and the like because I prefer to keep the rose tinted shades on. Oddly, I find the exact opposite to be true for sitcoms- I haven't found one to be watchable since the mid to late 90's, but I can watch Al Bundy verbally abuse his family any day.
The fact that MOTU and TF were my first "post playmobil/fisher price" toy lines probably exacerbates that a bit- I'd pretty well already been through the figures and was done with them around age 5 or 6 (though I perhaps cringingly stayed with Joe until the very end.) Totally. Plus, it remains entertaining, imo. They were glorified toy commercials, for sure, but the writers didn't treat them that way in that they actually tried to tell a story and even explore some fairly advanced themes and topics. It was targeted at kids, and made for 'em, but they didn't assume kids are all idiots either. He-man, meanwhile, seemed to have been produced by idiots, for idiots. Even for an 80's toy property cartoon, it's just awful. That was Filmation's wheelhouse though. Compared to Sunbow, Hanna-Barbara and even Rankin-Bass, everything about a Filmation toon was cheap. I remember watching an episode of their Ghostbusters cartoon as a kid and wondering if it was made by kids, it just seemed so amateurish.
