AF 1: Many fans are sad about the 25th Anniversary line being put on hiatus while the Rise of Cobra Movie merchandise hits retail. Is there any chance of the line coming back in 2010 with perhaps fan favorites such as Low-Light, Lifeline and maybe Zandar and Zarana? And are we going to see more Resolute product and a return of the Resolute Cartoon Series? H 1: There are currently no plans to bring back the 25th anniversary product, but the team is looking at how to best satisfy the collector community within the current product line. -------------------------------------------------------------- Well, thanks for playing Hasbro. Apparently "hiatus" is Hasbro for "We need to start seeing other people" or "It's not you, it's me". I mean, I knew this, it just lets me down actually hearing it. At least it saves me from buying anymore figures MOSC and for openers. Haha. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I'm going to finish my last 10-15 customs of figures Hasbro never made, and buy the few truly vintage figures from the ROC line, but looks like I'm out soon. It was a good run, but they still had a good ways to go as far as getting cash from me, and I'm sure I'm not alone. yes it sucks |

I agree. They could be getting more money out of us collectors but they choose not to. Its like they don't like money or something. If people like something and are buying it, then why stop making it then? Hasbro is a business, businesses are out to make money, but it seems they aren't.

I still don't know why we can't have the 25th line running side-by-side with the ROC line, when they've split their efforts and are attempting to market other multiple lines like the 12" figures, fast action battlers, the giant talking Sigma-styled figures, Combat Heroes, Mighty Muggs... They didn't spread themselves thin like this in the 80s, and I think focusing on the 3-3/4" figures (and occasionally 12" figures and things like walkie-talkies) would be a better plan now than making a bunch of things like Combat Heroes that, if you ask me, probably sell to a smaller target audience than the 25th line. I know there are those who like to drum up the 25th line as being more successful than it was, and those who like to go the other route and say that it wasn't really successful at all, but at least it seemed to get a lot of fanbase stirred up in the meantime, and get us excited (well, some of us) about the new 2009 film. Plus, it sold plastic toys. And when it comes to collectors, I know that we'll spend a lot more money (thousands of dollars) than kids (hundreds, max?), buy multiples, all the silly repaints, multiples of figures to get the "right" combination, troop build, buy the big vehicles, etc. So to me—and I've been wrong before—it seems like completely dumping the 25th line is a moderate mistake. Unless these kids really latch on to the film, I don't know if they'll stay fans 25+ years like many of us have. I assume we'll see more 25th-styled figures trickle in down the road tucked into the ROC line, but not like we want, and not in the numbers we want either. It's a shame, and I'll definitely miss the great artwork and spirit of the 25th/ME line. If we can just get the figures though, without the packaging, it's still better than nothing. I honestly disagree with those saying that the 25th line was running out of worthwhile figures left to make... They had quite a few to go still. At least a year's worth more of waves, if not more. GI Joe has a wealth of characters still to make in the classic line, without fear of getting into the riskier 90s figures, and even if they repainted figures, I'm sure we'd still buy them. Of course, I know nothing on the matter, and this is all just semi-educated-on-the-matter nerd speculation. But it's my silly viewpoint at least, take that as you will. |

As far as "rumors and speculation" versus official announcements, consider this - how many of you have passed on the Rockslide now that you know about the Target then and now pack coming out? How many of you got "burned" when you bought a comic pack for one figure and that one figure ended up single carded later? Hasbro knows what they are doing.

Me too. Ok, Hasbro, you can make new vehicles for the movie, but you can't make a new mold for the Skystriker? You can make and sell the PIT, but not the Terror Drome? Whatever. I'm collecting vintage for now on...

Yeah...It's a really big load of smelly crap! Sure they could make a Terror Drome again if they wanted. They can retool a brand new skyhawk but not a skystriker. I bought a Flagg and Terror Drome because I know they will never make either playset again.

We're suffering some heartbreak here in my house about the plans not to release the Wave 3 pre movie combat heroes at all, ever (at least that's how I read the tone). Seriously, if Hasbro wants to market to actual kids instead of those of us who never grew up they should stick with this line.
They've marketed the thing all wrong IMHO. If you do 2 packs, they ought to be Joes only or Cobra only. Preferably though a single fig at a 4-4.50 price point would sell well, and those of us who are so inclined could army build from there. Guess it's back to the custom shop if we want Major Bludd and Lady Jaye now. |

I am saddened by the news that we won't see a few of the items I have been hoping to see re-released but I am glad to see that they are thinking about future releases. I hope that, while they said they couldn't do the Terror Drome as it was, they have not yet to said that they will not be doing something else for a Cobra Base.
