Hopefully not. As long as Hasbro and Paramount think they can get money from it, they will make movies. I think I read somewhere that they already met the budget to make the movie (correct me if I’m wrong) so they are just deciding what it’s going to be.

I believe the proper vernacular is "Deth of teh line!!1!"
But sadly true in this case. Has been for a couple years, with the Club being the last fading heartbeats and nerve-twitches. When we get Joe back, I strongly suspect it's not going to be "our" Joe. Whether because of scale, because of designs, because of story, or some combination of all of the above. |

At this point might as well do a full reboot and figure the brand out from the ground up.
It's a shame they let so much garbage onto the screen, in hopes, like Transformers, that the movies could be anything and as long as it had enough cool explosions on it, that people would buy it. I think creating a truly engaging GI Joe movie, that celebrates the breadth of characters and the iconic history of Joe is a difficult task... But I also think almost anything could have been better than what we got. Though I'm sure it also could have been worse. Point is, it needs a new starting point, but that's hard to do in films because people often remember the previous efforts. Honestly, they should go to another medium. Whether that's a Netflix type show or the tried and true cartoon formula, I don't know. |
