It's because Hasbro is (foolishly) trying to rebrand itself as a Media company instead of a Toy company. That was the point of All Spark Studios and the (failed) "Revolution" comics.

They already have the 5 POA molds. There is even a ninja via Wolverine. CC, SE, Duke, Ninja as Storm Shadow, Swamp Viper, Clutch, Firefly and Night Fox as a CT. Attack the Happy Meal market!
It is written. Last edited by Adventure Fun; 07-09-2019 at 10:07 PM.. |

I love the business model for Joe these days.
We have a toy line. We have no idea what to do with it. We have no real idea what to do with the comic either. We have a movie idea...maybe. Sorta. Just hold on we'll figure it out. And somehow its all tied to a vague idea we have for joined universe to desperately are trying to steal from the Marvel success. Guys...your all over the map here. |

Hasbro: "You guys like vinyl figures with tiny bodies and giant heads, right?"

It has already been established that Hasbro does not have anyone working on Joe at the moment. And Paramount it dropping the ball left and right, right and left. The sad thing is, this is a perfect time to be launching a True Blue Joe line. We are in the midst of an 82-84 fractal and there is money to be made. Easy money even, there are 12 years of ME molds to exploit. Flood the burger joints with 5POA and the big box stores with basic evergreen figures.
The Carter and the recent Carter-esque years were a death to Joe not once but twice. Three times if you count the Billy C years. Time for the plastic crack and money to start flowing again.

I want a new movie just to get new product. In my opinion, however, a Snake Eyes movie I’d a BAD idea and I was never sold on it. Ever Vigilant or a reboot is what the brand needs. Real budget, real action director (Michael Bay, Shane Black, Joss Whedon). Stephen Sommers would have been awesome had he done his homework and taken it seriously instead of making his “accelerator suit” movie. The casting was terrible. Retaliation was better, but the script was poor and the director was not ready for that kind of movie. I say an animated series on a streaming service would be a better vehicle to restart GI Joe. Surely Hasbro can see there is money to be made from this awesome property.

Goddamned if we don't each, respectively, say the exact same shit over and over again in these threads.

GI Joe is not a franchise that's going to attract an A-list talent to direct it. It's a "starter director" job at this point. I know folks don't want to hear it but it's the painful truth. Virtually no one outside of folks like us gives a crap about Joe, and that's why it's dead right now: There isn't enough of a market to support it as a mass retail product.
