First, they say that but will buy the shit anyway. It's shameless virtue signaling. Second, most people only see things through the eyes of an employee, not an exec or even the owner. It's much the same as how renters never see things from the perspective of property owners or how most collectors (even lifelong collectors like Michael French) are incapable of seeing past the pegs.
I feel for everyone one who were made redundant recently, even the ones who don?t have fandom celebrity. But business is business. I follow wrestling and this happens all the time, people are ?future endeavoured? but the show goes on. I thought it was poor form for Hasbro to announce the fanstream while the news of the layoffs was hitting but I think it?s pretty disgusting of the YouTubers to use this to their advantage for views. They may have changed the title now but their upcoming video was named ?Hasbro Hates You - A Conversation With A Former Employee (Not Bobby) |

The real problem is that people, especially men, attach their sense of dignity, self worth, and identity to employment. Making matters worse, we have unreflective dullards like Tony using unemployment in his "sick burn" toolkit, berating people for being jobless losers, whether they actually have a job or not. It doesn't matter to him. He'll just assume. It's a huge psychological vulnerability that he has no qualms about exploiting.
So, then we have companies being tasked with ensuring that everybody has a job, forever. They can't guarantee they'll be in business in 5 years. It's impossible. If you create a world where people can't be let go, you have created a world where people can't be hired on in the first place. It's a topic worth discussing, but not by 3POA. 1) because they're not bright, informed people. But 2), they are the equivalent of state-run media in China or Russia. When they run a story about the problems in western democracies, are they always lying? No, but it's propaganda nonetheless, because they have a huge incentive to make the West look bad. They'll report on the bad about their adversaries, while suppressing any information that doesn't flatter them or their agenda. I could be wrong. Maybe someone on the podcast will present a viewpoint more nuanced than "Hasbro is callous and evil", but I doubt it. A lot of times these mass layoff reports ignore the mass hiring that led up to it. A lot of the big tech companies that are laying people off now are basically just rolling back their workforce to where it was 2 years ago. I would be interested to find out how many people Hasbro employed 5 years ago, vs how many people they employ today, after the cuts. The corporate saying goes that they have to cut jobs in the present in order to be able to (hopefully) create jobs in the future. Of course, it doesn't always work out that way. So, I looked it up. Hasbro added 1200 jobs in 2020. After these layoffs, they will be back to 2019 workforce levels.
