Per the recent What's on Joe Mind podcast, it was announced that Derryl DePriest has been let go from Hasbro. I know this is bad news for Joe fans, but I want to use this thread to say thank you Derryl for your work on GI Joe at Hasbro.
I know you are "THE" 12 inch Joe Guy, but I want to thank you for pushing for the 25th anniversary line with the ME sculpt. That line got me back into Joe and I just want to thank you for that. My wallet may not, but my piece of mind does for sure. I know you'll be able to find new opportunities and I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors!!! *Staff edit* Bobby Vale was also let go, so I wanted to add that to the discussion thread title. - Xerofall

This is bad news.
I've been looking over my paltry collection recently, and Joe toys from the past 2 decades in general, and I'm blown away by the awesomeness of it all. I mean, just the way they retooled/updated classic vehicles alone is friggin' amazing--JEEBUS! A new VAMP, Skystriker, Tomahawk, RAM, Snow Cat, Conquest, Rattler, Cobra Missle HQ and on and on--but then there are the figures themselves and little playsets/battle stations and nifty exclusives and crossovers... It was a golden era. Too bad so many fans didn't fully appreciate it while it was happening. Anyway, that was all Mr. DePriest. Thank you for all your efforts to keep GI Joe relevant in a changed world. Thank you most of all for not forgetting about us old fart fanboys. I suspect our GIJoe is truly fucked and done now. Yeah someone here mentioned his departure a week or two ago. I hear he's been instrumental in getting Joe product to market over the last few years. Hope he's got something good lined up and fares well.

Thank you, Derryl DePriest! Your time with GIJoe and Star Wars was a modern golden age of collecting. For a time, it felt like being a kid in the 1980's again.
Thank you so much for everything you done for us. |

First and foremost, I feel terrible for him and his family. This sucks.
He did so much for the Joe brand! He cared about the product, but he also cared about the people...showing up at Joecons, answering fan questions, granting interviews, etc. I wish him well, as I did (and do!) Mark Weber.

I was lucky to have met him at JoeCon 2016 along with Weber too.

Damn that’s real bad news. Derryl was ALWAYS professional and his work with GI Joe was instrumental. Thank you Mr. DePriest and I wish you the best in all future endeavors!

I’m very sorry to hear about Derryl. Despite any of my fanboy criticisms over the modern era I always felt like we had one of our own on the inside With Derryl at Hasbro. And while I know nothing about Hasbro’s operations I’d wager we have him to thank for any of the ARAH figures that we got in the modern era.
I collect many nostalgic toy lines but none are as special to me as G.I Joe. I know that my new Joe collection is what it is today thanks to Mr. DuPriest. Thank you Derryl for the memories, for reliving my childhood, for letting me go back to where my heart ached to go again. Best of luck to you and your family in the days to come.
