I'll say this while not honestly knowing if they even actually want kids to watch the Joe movies, but 2 things must happen in order for me to take my kids to see this movie:
1) Don't make it rated "R," and if it hits PG-13, don't make it because of F-bombs or nudity. I can live with some action-relevant mild violence, but my kids don't need an anatomy lesson or a vocabulary enhancement at their age. Neither of these is necessary in order to tell an interesting story but either one will keep both me and my kids out of the theater for this movie. 2) Don't make it a bunch of ninja crap. I have to be able to sit through it myself. I will accept, say, 5% ninja action fetish before I call it quits. Then again, when we're discussing a movie all about Snake Eyes, I think the chances are pretty low of there being any significant part of the movie that DOESN'T peddle ninja flips and swordplay.

For the last two Joe movies, Hasbro allowed Paramount to do whatever they want. They are not having it this time. Hasbro is directly involved AND has more say on this project. Going back to the roots, not trying to be edgy, familiar faces, familiar places, taking baby steps but steps in the right direction. I have hope. I really do. I cannot promise you when you'll hear about the toyline. I have some good friends representing Paramount/Hasbro who were kind enough to let me in on few things. The things which I front paged. Was also promised if anything new comes up, I'll be informed so that you guys are informed.

It's not something I take pleasure doing, believe it or not. I hate being the bad guy, but it was getting out of control.

Retaliation was pulled from it's original date, not because of cold feet, but because they were doing a 3D conversion. Get your facts straight. And just so you know, both Rise of Cobra and Retaliation made a profit. Not a blockbuster profit, but a profit none-the-less.

Last week Paramount Pictures announced that it was delaying the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The action sequel was shifted from its June 29, 2012 launch to March 29, 2013 because the studio wanted to 'spend extra time converting the film into 3D'. The reason given for the 3D conversion was that the lucrative ticket price could maximise foreign box office revenue and make the film more profitable.
It seemed odd that a studio would pull such a big film just five weeks before it was set to open, and then wait another nine months before it hit screens. Well, not surprisingly the 3D conversion isn’t the real reason for G.I. Joe: Retaliation's delay. Not by a long shot. Scroll down for the real story. WARNING: SPOILERS FOR (THE OLD VERSION OF) G.I. JOE 2! Deadline is reporting that G.I. Joe: Retaliation received scores in test screenings that ranged from “mediocre to bad”, and that the one shining light for the film was the relationship between Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson. There was just one tiny problem: Tatum’s character was killed off in the opening minutes of the film. The decision was made to delay the release, arrange a week of reshoots expanding Tatum’s role, and then convert the film into 3D. Apparently, Paramount didn’t see Channing Tatum as a viable star for the sequel to their 2009 film - hence the reason that Retaliation is toplined by Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis. However, Tatum is now a box office draw following the one-two hit combo of The Vow and 21 Jump Street. That Tatum’s role in Retaliation will be expanded must be good news for his fans and his agent, who must have been able to negotiate a steep fee for the actor’s return. https://screenrant.com/gi-joe-2-reta...hanning-tatum/ Quote:
Release
Previously slated for release on June 29, 2012,[52][53] Paramount announced in May 2012 that they were delaying the film's release until March 29, 2013 (but was later moved up to March 28, 2013), in order to convert the movie to 3D and boost interest in international markets.[54][55] The delay "gobsmacked" the film industry, according to Deadline Hollywood, because Paramount had already implemented a substantial advertising campaign beginning with a Super Bowl commercial, because "warehouses full of" toys were waiting for the film's launch, and because it was one of only three Paramount-produced films scheduled for Summer 2012 (along with The Dictator and Katy Perry: Part of Me). The studio also wanted to avoid competing with Tatum's Magic Mike, also scheduled for June 29, Deadline reported.[56] Neither film were big money makers domestically. ROC made more money in the USA than Retaliation did, which is WAY more important. Retaliation did only $122 in the USA. While Rise of Cobra did $150 million domestic. ROC basically paid for Retaliation's budget production on domestic gross alone. ROC was released in August, which gives unsure movies a chance to become blockbusters, which it kinda did but later they got cold feet by the time its sequel was gonna come out, so Retaliation was stripped of its crucial June 2012 summer release date & pushed back to March 2013 - where it faced much less competition .
