Well, this means one less title I'll be collecting. Unfortunately, I believe the title will be headed back to Marvel. The only reason the license was not renewed, was because of Marvel's greed, pure & simple. What a perfect opportunity to capitalize on the movie, by taking over the book. I give it 1 1/2 years tops, then it'll be driven into the ground with poor writing, and little to no support. They have no patience for poorly performing titles; which is where it'll be headed once they combine their two blockbuster movie tie-in titles (Joe & Transformers).

...again, last year Marvel made Dark Tower (a licensed title) one of the best selling books of the year, with a combination of strong talent and solid marketing. Exactly how much marketing does IDW do for Transformers? i think they are mostly feeding off Dreamwaves scraps.

OK bear with me for a second. Zartan and Serpentor are arguably two of GI Joes most populars characters. Of all of the 25th figures released so far why were those two the only figures made to represent their DDP style and not their original incarnation?
Maybe that was Hasbro's way of putting feelers out there to measure fan reaction of new designs vs classic designs. Many people were/are unhappy with the 25th versions of Zartan and Serpentor. Is it possible that Hasbro's decision to move GI Joe away from DDP (new) and possibly back to Marvel (classic) steams from them misinterpreting fan reaction? |

I just got some Official feedback on the G.I. Joe Comic Book License.
NOBODY has been told one way or the other if they have been rewarded the G.I. Joe Comic Book License. So until Hasbro actually tells us this is still a rumor.

I don't think there was any new/old test going on ~ likely anything any New company puts out will have something to do with the movie anyways...

Many people are happy and say maybe marvel will get the license back. I for one say no their the reason that snake eyes was blown out of concept. It was gijoe ft snake eyes and ninja force. DDP kept him as the bad ass but allowed other characters to grow. A lot of fans forget marvel did a lot of sense less killings to. In less than 8 issues they killed almost three dozen joes, that never really saw a chance (cool breeze r.i.p.). DDP may not of had a killer story in every issue but their deaths made sense. hopefuly who ever picks up the license can keep the story moving from where DDP left off at. I just don't know if I could get into starting all over again. Besides when was the last time Cobra Commander was villan of the year in any way shape or form. that alone should allow ddp top billing

Whatever happens, continuity is the main issue here. A total reboot starting over from scratch is unacceptable. A reboot means all those classic Hama storie's don't count anymore. Fred who? Candy? What's a Hard Master you pervert?
I don't see that happening at all. Best case scenerio, the new publisher picks up where WWIII leaves off. Worst case scenerio, the DDP/Image stories never happened, what a waste. |
