I haven't ready any GI Joe comics since the 80's but have been contemplating getting these on eBay.
Big question, reading the article...and them mentioning it may go to IDW....what is IDW and is it a good comic book company (the last comic book I purchased was when Marvel did the restart at #0 for their comic book lines back in 1999 or so). Now, it would be bad if they restarted the line to fit in line with the movie just to make Ripcord or whoever the leader. That would suck.

I have never gotten into the comics, but i have seen them on more than one occasion. With the 25th line going in full force and everyone talking about them, i really should get on board and check them out...

I really hope this is just a rumor. Devil's Due deserves to keep it after reviving it and telling some really solid stories. Character deaths are not bad, even, or especially, if they cause elements of the fan base to whine and moan.
Devil's Due comics pretty much revived my interest in GI Joe out of the blue back when they started. Regardless, I hope that if Devil's Due doesn't get to keep it, that whoever gets it doesn't just trash the DDP continuity. That would be a hack move.

I have to agree, I'd like to see Devil's Due keep the license. I think they've done a great job with AE. I'm really liking the WW3 storyline too. I don't think IDW should get it, the TF comics aren't that great. The creative team of Mark Powers and Mike Bear are really nailing it. I'd hate to see what IDW brings to the table.

I'm kinda torn on this one! I've read a few of the DDP issues and really liked them...only problem is, I haven't kept up with it. I haven't actually bought comics consistently since I was a kid. I'd really love to get back on board with it, but it's hard to tell what's going on when you haven't been following the story line from issue #1. I respect what DDP has done and appreciate them keeping the Joe mythos alive, but I'd kinda like to see the new company do a "reset" so those lazy fans like me can actually find a place to get back on the train so to speak.

Devils Due had a lot of great idea, but their execution was simply poor in every issue. I can't think of a single issue that told a great story form beginning to end.

With DDP, yes AE and the WW3 arc are great, but it took a while to heat up. They are doing great now, but weren't always. America'e Elite was initially penned by Joe Casey, and quickly turned into a ninja fest. A lot of fans stopped reading after Joe Casey took over, and a lot of fans came back after he left. The writing has been at its best lately, with Powers on board, as well as Hama on the shortlived Storm Shadow series, but the art has met criticism. Mike Bear does great work but its becoming obvious that he is under a tight deadline(in recent issues). Mark Robinson was not the best choice for Storm Shadow. Its like Sigma 6, if the license for DDP ends, at least they are going out with their best(ww3 storyline). |

man, i REALLY hope it doesn't end up at IDW. I really don't care with how they've handled Transformers and a lot of their production values, especially on the art side, and refuse to support their $4 an issue prices (that goes for any comic company).
