Should that be blamed on Hasbro or the heavy hand of Disney pushing/approving toys that boys will never buy and thus kill the entire industry? With Joe, Hasbro would be free to make their own assortment decisions (but who knows, they may also push out toy store poison as well).
Edit- I have a small assortment of 6 incher, and generally they don't do much for me. Unfortunately, the first one I bought was (very slightly damaged) TBS Boba Fett and that figure is so incredible I quickly bought quite a few more TFA/RO figs that I would now like to not own. Joes, if done correctly, could fall into the Fett category, perhaps. Last edited by Bubbavader; 08-24-2018 at 02:51 AM.. |

Going 6 inch won't really help save Gi Joe. Hasbro hasn't actually been doing a great job with Marvel Legends and Black Series. The problems are VERY familiar to Joe fans.
Go into a Walmart or Target, you can regularly find Marvel Legends Rhino Baf wave figures from 3 years ago, often White Tigers or Misty Knights. If not, it's still often peg warmers of later waves like Polaris, Paladin, Songbird. Meanwhile, Star Wars Black Series had Jyn Erso pegwarm so hard that she alone almost kept all successive waves past 2016 from ever seeing retail until recently. Stores finally resorted to clearanceing the Jyn Erso wave this year for 3 pennies to 50 cents per figure. Proof Jyn Erso wave was clearanced for really low prices: http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/ne...8b/JynErso.JPG https://www.reddit.com/r/ActionFigur...yn_erso_black/ Also regarding pegwarmers (spot for me here), all those you named and the number left on shelves, represent cases sold by Hasbro to the retailers. The rest of the case (a majority or at least half) sold to customers, a portion of those sold fresh out of the box on a fine Saturday morning (crazy collectors...). Not apologizing for Hasbro, just trying to understand the mind that is Hasbro (not fun). A 6" Joe line, wanted or not, could go either way based on Hasbro's assessment of potential expansion, moderate risk gamble, or desire/passion to get Joe out there in a different way. Finally, I hope that don't go into this thinking that a 6" line will save the brand, as that line of thought and strategy will likely do the opposite. |

Aside from my own personal disinclination to buy 6", it would just take one wave of pegwarmers to kill what small margin of dedicated collectors would still follow a shift to 6" scale.
The result being that you have a wave with ONE "must have" character like a crimson guard that gets snapped up, shortpacked with a horse-faced cover girl, a badly proportioned Bazooka, and a repaint of Cobra Commander, and those figures sit on shelves for the next six months to confirm that "GI Joe really just doesn't sell any more".
