So, I backed this, and was sorry to see this didn't fund. Then last week, I saw this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sunny-Days-En...s%2C250&sr=8-1 At first I thought, holy shit, they stole your idea! Then I read reviews, and this thing has been around for a few years. So, it's no wonder the MARV didn't fund for $65ish, when you could buy a very similar one from Amazon for under $20. I get that the size and quality of the MARV is probably a bit better. But, I ended up buying the one from Amazon, and it just arrived yesterday. I have to say, it's pretty damn nice (no windshield though).

I did not back the MARV because I thought it was way over priced, but it was bigger than that. I think maybe twice the size of the bbi humvee. And there are these to make mraps out of: https://www.amazon.com/Jurassic-Worl...089161&sr=8-24 Last edited by Stormtrooper12; 04-28-2020 at 11:57 AM.. |

I guess some didn’t follow the project that closely?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects.../posts/2413492 Limited run = higher cost It was also modular, so it would have been a platform for multiple future vehicles/additions. |

Yeah I get that they're not identical. I also certainly get that Kickstarter campaigns are start ups and costs run high. I'm just saying, with something so similar (similar to me at least), readily available at 30% of the cost, it's no wonder the MARV had trouble getting off the ground.

Did you see the comparison photos of the MARV next to the BBI uparmored Humvee in the link I provided from an update during the Kickstarter? It’s like twice the size, there’s no way you can get a vehicle that large without paying a lot more. I can’t recall exactly but I’m reasonably sure there were other kickstarters running around or near the same time which would have hurt the campaign and chances of getting it funded too.
World Peace Keepers (PTE) teased an MRAP last October. If it ever sees production, that will be a more fair comparison for pricing with keeping in mind a larger already well established company mass producing something versus a company trying to get off the ground making a limited run production. https://www.instagram.com/p/B3hWlKQgv55/?hl=en The MARV was cooler for me, not only because of the size and design, but the great potential for various loadouts due to its modular construction. |

I was certainly bummed that the MARV Kickstarter didn't work out, as it slowed down the development process a bit. We've still been chipping away at the MARV over the past year and I'm happy to finally start the tooling process in May, and hopefully inspect some test shots over the summer.
Here's a shot of the v3 prototype MARV, which was completed last month. All of the design specs (i.e. part fit, tolerances, colors) were fine tuned so the factory has a near-perfect reference sample during moldmaking and final production.
