I think a 6 inch Joe line (with lots of gear) at a similar price point as Black/Legends series will be released around the movie. Since there is no licensing fee, that difference could cover lots of gear, or they be sold cheaper to compete with WWE figs.
A 3.75 inch DG style Basic Assortment could also be available to have some continuity with the old line perhaps, and maybe some vehicles as well. And since no one has been paying attention to 3.75 Joes in years, FrankenJoes could be a viable product. Maybe one of the lines could be in the style of the old cartoon/comic and have Sunbow relaunch on Netflix/Tubi promo/Comixology codes for Hama issues. No reason to bundle media when bits can be sent so easily! |

Again, some people took issue with GIJoe being more of an "international" team, but remember in the '90s the team expanded to include Big Ben, Vorona, etc. I thought Retaliation was even better. Sure I would have loved it if Baroness or Destro would have played a part, but they weren't really necessary to the script The rumors of the 3rd movie have me very excited! I LOVE the Oktober Guard, so the idea that Daina would be on the team is great. I like that they are planning to bring Scarlett and Joe Colton back. Hopefully, Hasbro can plan better on the release of toys and action figures to coincide with the release of the movie than they did with Retaliation. Jason |

I actually liked both of the movies. Of course there were things that I wish would have been different (the Doctor for one in ROC), but I don't think either movie was near as bad as people let on. I remember when ROC came out people criticized it as not being "real like the comics." Then I would remind them that very early on GIJoe comics had a sci-fi slant with issues about giant robots and SEA-leg walkers <cough - Scout Walker - rip-off - cough>. I also liked how both movies drew elements from the entire GIJoe universe. You had the "lifelike hair and a kung-fu grip" homage to the 12" line; "knowing is half the battle" to the cartoons; the Pit to the Marvel comics; and I even thought the Reactor Suits were a bit of an homage to the Sigma Six line.

The benefit in 3.75/4 inch figures is that you can get vehicles that accommodate those figures. The big draw for me for GI Joe were the vehicles. Going the 6 inch route would be a disaster in my opinion. If you look at all the franchises with 6 inch figures there are virtually no vehicles that add any play value. For me I am personally want Hasbro to stick with the 3.75/4 inch scale so we can get upgraded jets and tanks and possibly bases.
The vehicles would need to incorporate video game-like qualities or other electronics to engage a new generation of children...but Hasbro seems unable to grasp the concept. |

The vehicles have not been a draw for kids in a long time. For us (as kids) a vehicle that rolled and could fire a spring-loaded missile was cool. For kids today it is passe.

Adult collectors need to accept vehicles aren’t a draw for a toyline with kids. Star Wars vehicles barely move and continuously have to be clearanced. Fitting figures into vehicles kids likely won’t buy won’t dictate the scale for the next line. How we remembered playing with our Joes 35 years ago isn’t going to determine what Joe will be tomorrow anymore than 12” dolls with removable clothing didn’t dictate what RAH was in 1983. We’ve become our parents and sound exactly like 12” collectors sound when they continuously talk about how the next Joe line should incorporate the things they loved about the 12” line. |

In a well written vehicle Dwayne has proven appeal. He certainly has the multi-quadrant appeal that a true movie star must have, so just make sure he's not in a schlock-fest and the film should be decent.
More and more G.I. Joe is beginning to feel like a property of its time. In this peace, love and banning of guns unfortunate era in which we now find ourselves military action movies are a difficult sell. Unless you can sandwich it into a film that includes a spy element or a central figure with the charisma to hold it all together, which appears to be their point in hiring Dwayne again. He's proven he can go the distance in selling whatever he's doing, but has the public's tolerance for a non superhero based team of mostly unfamiliar characters been worn too thin? I guess we'll see in 2020. Quote:

A small initial offering of figures would be wisest with more to follow if the film proves itself at the box office. Last edited by Stygian; 05-07-2018 at 12:09 PM.. |

A movie action packed and an all around team instead of one hero is what I want to see next...

This reminds me of when POC was fresh in theaters and Target/Wal-mart shelves were utterly drenched and saturated in new 3 3/4" movie Joe product. On the one hand it was elating to see new Joe product, but it didn't feel like Joe as much as I had hoped it would. Gone were the utterly distinct costumes and skill sets that made each character stand out. In were bland and drap colored costumes that were like an oil slick of blah which made all of the characters as generic in deed and look as possible.
