Is it just me or is the khaki-colored rifleman with the Thompson a thing of beauty?
Is anyone here planning on building an actual platoon of infantrymen? |

Man those 21st Century WW II 1/18th scale European sets are going to really soar on the secondary market now.

I imagine that all of the 1:18 WWII stuff just took a big jump.

This whole set is amazing and I really hope they hit most of these stretch goals so it's a completely awesome set! I wonder if they don't reach the British figures, if they'd release that as a separate Kickstarter in the future? Seems like a great add-on pack. Though I hope those other higher tier American and German options re-appear as stretch goals for that, too
One curiosity to me is that the MP-44/STG-44 looks extremely thin in its cross-section. It was a fairly thin weapon, but not quite -that- thin. It looks so thin in the photos that it would just fall out of the handgrip on a figure. Maybe just a quirk of it being an early mold prototype? edit: The Thompson SMG also. I figure I’ll jump the gun here by a year or two and post my wishlist for Series Two. I decided on three new troop types and four new weapons for each combatant.
US Pacific Marines (camouflage) US/Canadian First Special Service Force (these guys were bad ass) US Army Military Police (the best way to get the Ike Jacket uniform, and somebody’s gotta give the Dirty Dozen a hard time...) M-1941 Johnson Rifle Reising Submachine Gun Johnson Light Machinegun (can’t have 1SSF without it!) Browning M1919A6 British Paras British Royal Marine Commandos British Far East troops SMLE (better for the desert troops than the No. 4 Mk1) STEN Mk V (for the Paras) PIAT Antitank Launcher Vickers Machine Gun Soviet Snipers (not holding my breath for ladies) Soviet Naval Infantry Soviet Infantry (winter coat, classic!) Nagant Sniper Rifle PPS-43 Submachine Gun PTRD Antitank Rifle Russian Maxim Machinegun Up next, the Axis!

Waffen-SS troops in camo
Gebirgsjager Mountain Troops Panzer Crew G-43 Rifle Kampfpistole grenade launcher Panzerfaust 60 Mauser C96 Instead of more Japanese for this go-round, I thought I’d throw in some Italians to even out the sides: Italian troops Carcano Rifle Beretta M1938 Submachine Gun Breda 30 Machinegun Beretta M-1934 Pistol

THanks guy’s glad you dig him. Trust me as much as I wanted to get him in some action shots and holding weapons. I could not do to the fragile nature of the prototypes.

Wonder how good the figures are at holding the rifles.

As good as the older Marauder figs are at holding them, I expect, which is very well... one of the MTF guys posted an image on Facebook somewhere... they should post it in the kickstarter so that people without experience of the line can see it.
Really sucks not knowing how far down the unlocks this will get. Given the room I have for figs, I'm all about getting one representative sculpt of each, which so far is only 3 figs. I'd pledge the pick 6 if I knew they'd make it to the Desert shorts guys or even the Brits. So even though I want to pledge now and show my (admittedly paltry) support dollars, I'm kinda 'stuck' waiting to see how this pans out in the end. Wish there'd be a thing where you put in your pledge for the unlocks you want, and then kickstarter'd just drop the dollar amount if it doesn't reach the quantity threshhold or something. |
