Backblast*** has to be the front-Runner
I feel like if it was a driver it would have been mentioned. But then again we got Frostbite So 87: Rumbler; Steam-Roller, The Fridge. 88: Armadillo, Wild-Card, Super-Trooper 89: Backblast; Downtown; Hot-Seat; Windchill; Long-Range; Dogfight 90: Rapid-Fire; Stretcher; Major-Storm; Cold-Front; Updraft 91: Tracker 92: N/A 93/94 (Unless Battle Corps is a Sub-Team): Colonel Courage; Mace(Never officially part of DEF); Ice Cream Soldier; Snow-Storm 97-2001 (The Wonder Years) Thunderwing, Side Track, Cross-Fire, Double-Blast, Wet-Down, SideSwipe, Sidetrack 2001-2008 (Spy Troops era) Dart, Agent Faces, Red Spot, Sgt Hacker, Switch Gears, Depth Charge, Hard-Drive, Hi-Tech, Dr. Link Talbot, Major Barrage, Cannonball, Long-Range V2, Med-Alert, SPARKS. *** Like Nighthawk mentions, Backblast's inclusion in Winter Operations team might preclude him too. DAMN!

I would think sub team refers to a sub team deco, as far as that goes.
I wouldn't consider Battle Corps a sub team. It was a line branding. Cobra were released under the Battle Corps header, and obviously were not team mates with the Joes. Same thing for Ninja Force- more of a line branding than a sub team, with predominantly new characters, and also Cobra released under the Ninja Force Banner, as well.

The not part of a subteam is ambiguous. Does it mean they are releasing someone who was NEVER part of a subteam or just someone not in subteam colors?
Cause Backblast was part of Winter Operations team in 2005 and Battle Corps (if you consider that a sub-team) in 1993. Lightfoot was part of Night Force.

Damn, this was a pretty solid line-up, and they all look pretty good. I'm kicking myself for not getting in on this sub...I meant to, but the time the order period was up things got hectic personally and financially for me and I lost track of it. I'll probably be paying through my eyes to get my most wanted of this batch- Arctic Stalker, TF Jinx, Dusty, Budo, Skidmark, even the ridiculousness that is Crystal Ball. I'm currently trying to find a secondary market that will have these for a decent price. I'm definitely subbing FSS8, maybe I'll have some trade fodder for these.

You're right. Cold Front is a good choice.

The more I look at this set the more I realize its a solid line-up. A few of the characters I don't much care for (e.g., Arctic Cobra Commander), but as far as builds go they're almost all good.
Crystal Ball could benefit from different legs, but the only really major miss is Budo. His legs are terrible, the Club completely missed the point that Budo is half samurai and half military, and that his legs need to be those of a traditional soldier. Other than that, though, this FSS is a lot more solid than I initially gave it credit for.
