They’re the stewards of these characters, so understandably, every once in a while they’ll have a “We want to go somewhere else with Flash from G.I. Joe” or whatnot, but it was really more of everybody at Hasbro being really supportive and suggesting cool new things and adding toys to the toybox.”
For example if IDW wanted to turn Flash into a Dire Wraith and have ROM kill him, but Hasbro had written Flash into the movie, there would be a conflict of interest. Looks like a few Joes are not going to be around for those movies if that is the case, as we saw in today's Revolution issue one. I also see them inserting vestiges of GIJOE into the first few HCU movies, just like we saw Marvel create ties. I would not be surprised if Scarlett appears in a scene in MASK or Micronauts since she is now team leader. Maybe in an after credits scene, like we saw Nick Fury in Iron Man.

i read in a recent interview with the revamped g.i. joe "shared universe" thing and was not impressed at all. in fact, it plans on doing everything i don't want. it's going to have the sunbow feel instead of larry's. it's going to be very sci-fi. i have bought every g.i. joe comic since 1982 including every continuity, cross-over, sigma-six, g.i. joe extreme, action force (still working on battle action force as i only have one annual) and i was planning to support this revamp just for fun as ARAH will always be my canon but after reading the interview, seeing some hints concerning art and plot direction... this just does not hold any interest for me. DON'T GET ME WRONG, i hope fans like it and help it do well but i'll be hanging out with the rest of us old folks reading about frakkin' SEAN COLLINS!!!

IDW's continuation of Marvel and Hama's classic continuity continues AND is utilizing more modern toys. It outsells Transformers but needs more readers and letter hacks. [email protected] re:postbox:the pit. this canon is more than a fad, let's proove it. |

Just as long as we get 1:18 compatible toys, I'm game. Official 3 3/4 Transformers and MASK vehicles, why not? And I don't even buy vehicles anymore (no space).

Looks like a few Joes are not going to be around for those movies if that is the case, as we saw in today's Revolution issue one. Hasbro is still making Generations toys of Bumblebee, despite him dying some 3 years ago in the comic books (and, in fact, has made new toys of a number of dead characters) The entire Generations range is doing headmaster stuff this year, yet, nobody in the comics is tearing off their heads. Hasbro may give "nudges" (like the coming tie in comics to Titans Return), but they seem to have given fairly loose reigns to individual sources to create suitable content to those mediums.

Great to see this is moving forward and probably release before the Joe movie.

I think all of the properties would be better served- and more importantly, better realized on screen through animated rather than live action movies. I'd like to see the shared universe stories told as movies in theaters and then each franchise have it's own television series run concurrently.

Do we really need another one of these "shared universes"? The MCU is the only strong one out there. While DC's shows promises, it's suffering with an accelerated pace as the try to compete with nearly a decades worth of MCU films. And is anyone really interested in a Universal Monsters universe? I know I'm not. X-Men movies, sure as it's already a self contained universe over at Fox, they can let the FF go back to Marvel for all I care since I feel that franchise would be better served with an animated family friendly series rather than any live action effort.
I don't know enough about all the Hasbro brands involved to feel anything about this. I do think a combined universe of Joe-TF-MASK would be cool, it all depends on tone and execution. Adding in the fantastical elements of Visionaries and god knows what else just serves to muddy the waters and dilute what could be an interesting concept.

Nobody complains about all the "crazy" in the MCU or DCU, so I'm game for an equal run at it. Sci-Fi is definitely the backbone of G.I. Joe and always has been, even though the "Black Ops" and "Call of Duty" crowd hate it. Serpentor, Cobra-La, Unicron, Visionaries... I say go for it!

I to am happy for more sci-fi and I would think with this shared universe Gi Joe would have to go more in that direction.
