I'm really excited about that new Para-Viper. I dont know how many I currently have, but it's close to 25. I'll probalby buy 5 or 6 of these new ones and have a special Para-Viper unit. If Para-Vipers are the Navy SEALs of Cobra, these new ones will be my Cobra SEAL Team 6.

The ROC line isn't just going to be ROC figures. Yeah, it'll likely have the "ROC" logo on it, but that doesn't mean the figures are from the movie.
In other words, it'll be a ROC card with painted art of the Resolute version of the character, and to those that know what it is, awesome. To those that don't, it's just another version of the character. Just like how they make 50-trillion versions of Batman for Batman movie lines that have absolutely nothing to do with the movie. good point. kind of makes me wonder why they won't release 'classic' ripcord or cover girl single cards (as part of the movie line or otherwise), when the excuse they used was that they didn't want to confuse people. seems like similar situations with the exact opposite results.
I know Hasbro's got nuthin' against putting many different versions of a character into a line, but usually they have more or less the same feel (like the 2 SS already seen). Comparing those to the Resolute SS, I just can't see the RES version on the same card as ROC without looking ut of place, and possibly confusing kids. I guess I'm just worried that by "peppering" resolute into the ROC line they mean they'll do some grey/blue repaints like Gung Ho, call 'em ROC for the kids and hope the RES fans accept them as Resolute versions, while the RES specific versions that are too unlike ROC will never see the light of day.

Im happy to see the Steyr in 1/18 form with one of the upcoming figs.
But its really WAY too big for that scale. being quite familar with this rifle (spent an arduous few months being 'drilled' by DIs on the range at kapooka durng basic training trying to achieve good groupings with it ) its got great detail but looking quite poor in dimensions. check this http://k41.pbase.com/v3/10/354710/2/...F88Austeyr.jpg Thats the kind of scale it should be at. (well thats my mindless pointless rant out of the way. I feel much better.....) In any case, I really like a lot of those, but am I the only one who liked the original Para-Viper? I'll get one of the new ones as an officer, but still, Cobra has never been subdued in their uniform colors. |

That's my hope, too, that the obviously Resolute versions like Destro, Baroness, SE and SS will just be put into ROC cards, maybe with some Resolute sticker, buuuuut....
this is what doesn't make sense with that. It's my understanding that the reason Weems is "Sgt Altititude" in the 7 pack instead of "Ripcord" is not because of copyright limitations (they've obviously still got rights to "Ripcord") but to keep kids from being confused by the clearly different Ripcords. I don't understand why they would but the ROC symbol on resolutes. I mean SE/SS don't have it....hopefully. But you're right that symbols got to go on my resolutes!

Check out Marauder John's site. He has Steyr's at proper scale for cheap. I got a few of them, but it looks so crazy, I don't know which unit should get them. Looks almost too space-aged for the regular troopers (which I suspect is the reason it never caught on with major armies of the world, despite what I've heard about its effectiveness).
In any case, I really like a lot of those, but am I the only one who liked the original Para-Viper? I'll get one of the new ones as an officer, but still, Cobra has never been subdued in their uniform colors. Yeah, it was jumped we went from SLR's to Austeyr but ive only ever known the F88 and loved operating it. So lightweight, so easy to field strip, and little to no recoil. Great rifle But im off topic now..... |
