Absolutely. I find myself making more customs with the Vals then the male bodies only because they look so much better to me.

I just wish that the balaclava heads came in more skin tones than white. All of my unnamed characters are white because I had to build around the balaclava heads. That's a bit of a nitpick, but I prefer my characters to be masked up and I'd like a bit of diversity in my collection without having to build unmasked figures. |

Grabbed some old McFarlane parts from my parts bin. The full belt is actually a custom one that I made using 5 McFarlane pieces attached to a working to-scale belt I made from some ribbon. Also, the shoulder armor is magnetically attached to avoid hindering the shoulder articulation and the battle rifle can be stored on the figures backpack via another set of magnetic mounting points. The name and blood type decals are custom.

That ODST helmet is super neat! How'd you make it?

3d printer, some filament, and a little paint.

Now that I've shown of the ODST in his game accurate form, I think I'll change him up to fit the Schlubverse. I'll take a pic of him later.

Swapped out the left shoulder armor for a small one with a US flag decal, added a shemagh (backwards), and gave him a custom painted machine gun.
Edit: oh, and stuck a knife in his belt like you used to see action stars do in the 80s. Last edited by GenericSchlub; 04-24-2021 at 05:59 PM.. Reason: Forgot something |

I'm relatively new to collecting modern action-figures, and have yet to heat-up the ones with stiff joints. What's everyone's preferred method, and how long does it take?

I do both the hair dryer and hot water, but I prefer the first as it's faster for me.

I use scalding hot water out of the tap. Just 20 seconds on a part like an elbow which is thin, but a full minute of it's something like a torso, or just really stubborn.
