That's a nice way of showing the value there Haradrel. So even at this point, with no concessions, it's a better deal than buying those parts. However, Marauder says in the KS they will make the value worth it, meaning, I would guess, that they will give you a package or an option of packages equivalent to getting the number of unlocks, if not the actual pieces in those unlocks, so I would say the individual item prices for each thing you receive with an All-In pledge will be significantly lower than the current $36.
By that, I mean currently there are 26 potential items offered, between the original three base items (K9, Exo Suit, Contract Ops), the two weapons sets, and the unlocks. Haradrel's $36 average is based on only 11 items. So if, and this is speculative, Marauders says at the end, 'we'll give you 26 items if you're all-in', even if you can't choose or receive the items that did not get unlocked, you're looking at less than $20 an item (less than $16, actually).

Hmm, I like the fact they are trying to get the cut of the single breasted suit jacket right rather than it looking like a bulky coat. I'm interested to see how the waist piece looks like but the dress shirt torsos are enough to sell the figure to me.
I'm hoping the suit jacket has the lines of the Thunderbirds Hood figure (although with the buttons on the right side) rather than the bulky Men In Black figures. |

Hey can we get a stretch goal for military green and such colors for the skirt?
It might be useful to make Vietnam or World War 2 figures in the future to simulate the long jackets or shirt uniforms of the era. |

All they need to do is sell matching shirt or jacket sleeves. A removable jacket gives that many more options: open, closed, with a vest, single or double breasted, military dress uniform, etc. I think the Legion XIV kickstarter that didn't fund had the right idea on how to make this modular. MJ would make a killing selling the parts to go with a bodies designed like this.
The other thing is posability. A separate jacket will look more natural when posed with the figure turned at the waist than one with a swivel joint running through the jacket itself.

@ Zap: I don't really have much interest in the exosuits or dogs either; I like them out of principle, but I don't feel too strongly about actually owning very many of them. The addition of the suits and the bulk rifle sets are what really have my interest.
I also agree with whomever mentioned that the boots on the exosuits look rather out-of-place with the rest of the design. I'm sure they can be revised independent of the rest of the design, which looks very strong overall.

Arg! Now there's effectively two Exo-Marauders conversations, what with the Val thread seeing a changeover. I keep popping in between the two. It's not a problem, of course, but I feel like Jack Tripper trying to have two dates at the same time. Time to head back into the kitchen!

Agency Ops info has been added to the KS main page:
When we pass the $100K pledge level, we will ADD a NEW "Agency-OPs" figure in Suit as another Stretch Goal! A Marauder Task Force figure in a BUSINESS SUIT, with a BONUS Dress shirt torso AND BONUS rolled up sleeve forearms! NOTE: will add design images once we pass $100K and reveal where the Agency Ops figure will be positioned in the current unmet stretch goals. I already contributed but will throw in much more if thos gets close enough to reality

So, is everybody on board with the suit being split between a torso piece and a waist piece? Looks a little odd to me. But it might allow for body armor to go on top, whereas a soft coat on top of a dress shirt torso would not allow that.
I do dig the dress shirt with the rolled up sleeves. Those will go well with the PMC theme of the Contract Ops. They're probably using the already-tooled rolled up sleeve forearms. I guess the Agency Ops didn't unlock at $100k after all. I re-read the previous update and it said the suits would be "added to the list of unlocked stretch goals", but that must have been a mistake. Putting it as a middle-reach stretch goal makes more sense and is very do-able. The Mayhem tier is looking like a great value. I'm projecting about 20 unlocks or so, so that's 70 items for $995 -- less than $15 each. Last edited by SmokePants; 09-14-2017 at 07:47 PM.. |
