No. Maybe a 3rd person shooter, but not a FPS game. What would be ideal for G.I. Joe is a RTS game like Command and Conquer or Starcraft.

They made a GI JOE game back when ROC came out. How many here bought that one?

I'd like a GI Joe FPS that's a cross between Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Novalogic's Delta Force Xtreme and the Modern Warfare series. Class based characters (Machine Gunner, Rocket Launcher, Infantry, Ninja, Driver, etc.), vehicles which can zoom around large outdoor levels like the Striker, Stinger, STUN, Armadillo and HISS, and with air support from a points based reward scheme for kills, objectives completed, etc giving you things like Rattler air strikes, orbiting FANGs or Locusts, a controllable Mamba or Dragonfly and a hovering Trouble Bubble or Sky Hawk.
no, I've not given it a lot of thught at all [/sarcasm] |

I'd buy a Joe FPS or RTS or sandbox style game.

- Isn't it time for Hasbro to start making more G.I.Joe figures? - Isn't it time for Hasbro to make G.I.Joe figures we want? - Isn't it time for Hasbro to reduce prices on G.I.Joe figures we want? - Isn't it long past overdue for G.I.Joe to have a proper cartoon on Netflix? Yeah--we're all G.I.Joe fans here and want G.I.Joe product and cross-media platforms. I think the more appropriate or logical question is "are we any closer today to getting a G.I.Joe-themed FPS than we were 10 years ago?" Having said that, while I wouldn't mind seeing FPS or 3PS, I'm still way more partial to getting a Lego-style video game. I've played the crap out of the Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, and Lego Marvel games and my sister has played the crap out of the Lego Lord of the Rings and Lego Harry Potter games. I think G.I.Joe is perfectly suited for puzzle games like these (way better than Batman is) and it would be enjoyable for both adults and kids alike, I think. But I digress. On the other hand, I'm also interested in seeing how G.I.Joe's appearance in that Toy Chest game turns out.

Meh. I think FPS is not the best fit for the Joe franchise.
G.I. Joe is about characters. Strip that away and you've got a pretty generic military actioner with a touch of sci-fi. You can get that from dozens of FPS games, and an FPS by its' very nature tends to strip away character by making "you" the character. Something like Battlefront would be ideal, with its' mix of vehicle and infantry combat, but the old school third-person Battlefronts where you get to see your character (though being able to zoom into a FPS mode is fine). The point being, you need the characters to make it G.I. Joe, and generally speaking FPS games are not very good at character. At least not until they've had multiple iterations and tie-in novels etc... (see: Halo franchise). A good G.I. Joe game also probably shouldn't have you just be "Greenshirt guy that runs around and does stuff with/for Snake-Eyes/Duke/Gung-Ho/Skidmark" but should have you actually being the recognizable Joes. FPS is also a super-crowded market. A G.I. Joe FPS would have to do something innovative and special to get the attention of the hardcore FPS crowd, or else it'd basically be a bust of a game that only sold to hardcore Joe fans. |

I voted no, its a " ME TOO! ME TOO!" overcrowded segment in a played out genre that I never cared about to begin with. medal of call of halo quake of doom and their 6.02x10^23 stupid clones have that style on lock down. That being said it would have made a lot of sense if done right... 17 years ago.

I feel Hasbro really really missed the boat on this, they should have created a GI Joe FPS during the height of Call of Duty, the Cobra class system is perfect for a progression stand point and the people and vehicles are very interesting. Alas Hasbro didn't want real world violence tied to their toys or something like that, I can't remember the full reason.
