I had zero interest in the set, but all the pissing and crying about this figure is nuts. The parts work. As for the gloves not working with the uniform just calm down. The point is this guy isn't your typical military officer. There's a megalamoniacal eccentricy here...

Wouldn't quite call it a full-on monet, but it just feels meh seeing the final product. All good points above, I think I'll wait until I have it in hand to decide whether or not it's evil-bay worthy.

Here's a quick mockup of what Mayhem would look like as WORMS...

I am one of the admirers of this figure, but have a pet peeve listed below which I hope the GIJCC will solve for us.
It is good that General Mayhem still wears the blue/yellow patch on his arm of the Spetsnaz GRU, much like his 2005 action figure did. That adds to the history/personality of this character. The HGU-56/P flight helmet with Day/Night ANVIS/HUD-24 is an interesting choice for this character, and seems to work somehow. His eastern European weapons seem to go well with his Ukrainian background, from the Polish PMM to the German PzF3. Hasbro sculpted (in my opinion) a nearly perfect Panzerfaust 3 rocket launcher a few years ago, but I am not sure that the GIJCC appreciates or understands that. For example, in 2012 the convention boxed set included Horror Show with a darker gray version of this weapon, with TWO of the 60mm anti-tank rocket warhead pieces. That didn’t make sense, because we only needed one to build this item. The PzF3 launch unit, when removed from the case, already has the UP-7V telescopic sight attached to the folded handles/trigger mechanism, and this is the re-usable part of the weapon. If General Mayhem opens the case and notices that the telescopic sight is missing, he would deem the weapon unserviceable and open another launch unit case before proceeding any further. The anti-tank rocket itself is longer than the warhead piece, and the long tube piece is actually disposable. So to reload the weapon, the small launch unit/telescopic sight piece would be removed and reused, but the launch tube discarded after firing. The bad news this year is that it appears that everyone’s General Mayhem figure is missing the necessary piece to complete their PzF3 weapon, and I don’t know why that is. I hope that the GIJCC can have the factory produce the final missing piece for us in matching light gray plastic, and make this part available to club members somehow… |

So, I'm not a Joe collector at all, and not familiar with this character much, but I assumed he's supposed to be a counterpart to Matt Trakker from M.A.S.K. but now I'm thinking maybe he doesn't look as much like Miles Mayhem as I originally thought. Can someone clarify?

No, he was never intended to be based on a MASK character. He was a 2005 Convention figure made by the Club.
