Remember, these are RUMORS and should be treated as such until proven.
Remember when everyone freaked out about the casting of twin black girls in Retaliation everyone was SURE was some abominable change to the Crimson Guards?

I could see a merging of the two properties. Sort of like MASK being the civil leg of the Global Intergrated Joint Operating whatever the E stands for.
VENOM would of course be the venom of Cobra. My opinion: MASK has the potential to "get over" more in today's market place than Joe does so why not combine the two and milk the best bits from both. Heck, sprinkle in a little Inhumanoids in there and set this beast on fire. Maybe make MASK like SHIELD and and have the Joes be a part of it? -c

Back around Sigma Six, Hasbro UK opted to replace the existing line of Action Man with a new series called "Action Teens on Machines" (ATOM). In the UK and parts of Europe, the line was called "Action Man: ATOM", while in the US and other parts of the world, the line was simply called "ATOM". (And I kind of suspect the original plan was to export Sigma Six the same way, with the international versions dropping the "GI Joe" moniker). So, especially after this newest rumor, I wonder if Hasbro isn't eyeing the same thing? GI Joe frankly has a larger set of memorable villains and heroes than MASK, but MASK has a stronger toy concept, so might it be situation where, in the US, we get "GI Joe: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand", while the rest of the world gets "MASK"? Possibly integrating both properties?

I was thinking along similar lines recently. I honestly wonder if the name "G.I.Joe" is holding the brand back in a way. Maybe the name just sounds too old-fashioned or something compared to Transformers. Who knows?
Maybe make MASK like SHIELD and and have the Joes be a part of it? -c I hope that new brand manager is reading this and does what we're thinking. If we're right, he's probably already doing it. I just hope it's 3.75". Otherwise I'll be sad. |

You know, if this is true, SilverOptimus pointed out a great point - Hasbro did just trademark a bunch of MASK names not too long ago.
Still, all speculation and rumor until proven otherwise (the news story, not SilverOptimus' trademark finds). |
