While it would of been nice to have gotten some idea of what is in the pipeline for GIJoe this year at toyfair, I think it's a good thing they're holding off for JoeCon. We just have to wait a few more months is all to find out. It could mean they already have a retailer lined up. So they don't need to shop it out to retailers at toyfair. TRU most likely got a multi year deal with them last year. If nothing else it at least feels like Hasbro is putting more stock in the Joe fans by holding off til JoeCon to make a big showing there.
I liked the 50th stuff we got, although nothing about it really felt like it was celebrating the 50th. The entire line felt rushed and last second. But hey we finally got that fancy new Destro and Leatherneck, Vamp Mk II and the huge surprise with the Snow Wolf. The delay or whatever we're calling it seems like it'll give them more time to make a better line up for this year, or next year even. They're planning a new cartoon so that is going to take time to get that done and get toys made to tie in with it. Hopefully it means they're going to get the timing right this time and actually have toys from the show in stores when the show is still on the air. Didn't GIJoe go with out a dedicated team for over a year or so now ? so they're just getting things up and running again. It really makes me wish I could go to JoeCon this year, it might just turn out to be one of the best in years. |

Eh, I may be in the minority here, but I think it's a win/win for Joe fans:
*There's no rush to get something "out there" by Toy Fair, which can be a very positive sign that planning is under way. *Joe fans have felt like the stepchild of the bunch. What a great way to show the fans that there's reason to celebrate by sharing info at JoeCon instead of earlier (Granted, there might not be anything to share at an earlier date, but I'd prefer to take the positive route). Weber was just hired. No one should have expected him to have anything new to show. Toy Fair isn't about showing concepts, it's about showing actual product that will be on the shelves. At this stage, anything Weber wants to do is still in the concept stage. Way too early. Joecon will show concepts, and probably what the "50th phase 2" will be. Then SDCC will be the big reveal, if then, might not have anything until Toy Fair 2016. Anyone that thought there would be a big reveal at Toy Fair was kidding themselves.

If Hasbro won't be there at all it isn't nessicerarly tell regarding Joe. I'm sure there is a fair amount Star Wars product and Marvel product to show that won't be shown either. We'll have to wait a few more months to see what's in store for us but Joe Con is a great place for Hasbro to strut their stuff.

Hasbro will be there, just no Joe.
Which is fine and makes sense.

Ah apologies, misread it. Though Hasbro was not going at all.

I don't know if it's a case of "We're too big so we have to do our own setup" or "We don't want to have to play by your rules, Toy Fair organization" but either way, Hasbro (and Mattel) get to do "their own thing" that just "happens" to occur in roughly the same time and place as Toy Fair, and gets wrapped up with all that media coverage (up to and including sites labeling their coverage of those showrooms/events as "Toy Fair" stuff, which confuses the issue more). So basically...for all intents and purposes they are part of Toy Fair every year, but strictly speaking their presentations and showroom are not actually part of the official New York Toy Fair. Wow...3 pages and no "deth ov teh line!!!!" comment yet. I'm a little ashamed of you, Hisstank.
Maybe Hasbro's waiting to get some Marauder Task Force figures in hand so they can see how good modern military figures can turn out? But really, this could mean they're actually working on something really cool and want to take their time with it. Having a teaser at Joe Con and then a new line reveal at SDCC would be ok with me, it lets me spend some collecting dollars on many of the other great things out there right now (NECA's POTA/Alien/Predator, Funko ReAction, DC Collectibles, etc.). |

As soon as I heard the news about No Joe for ToyFair 2015 I went looking for your predictions that I saved to my desktop a few months back and somebody here in the house freaking deleted it!!!
