My thoughts are if the line goes 6 it will cater more to collector's. The one thing most ppl here say that Hasbro needs to break away from. Kids barley bought if any bought 3 3/4. There not going to touch this, let alone some of the collector's on here that do not want this. That gives us a line that will move less that the 50th Anniversary. A 6 inch line will not happen. Besides, did that guy not say army building will be more accessible? Building at the higher price point a 6 inch line would bring is not accessible. Just my thoughts.

I got this guy off of eBay, he's just a scaled up version of the 25th 5 pack SE (which I happen to like, by the way). I'm all for a new 6" line, as long as they continue with the 4" scale. They do it with Star Wars, I can't see why it can't be done with Joe.

Pardon my french but "f*ck kids."
GI Joe as we know and love it has nothing to do with kids. If they are intested in military stuff at all it's just first person shoot em up video games...they don't care about characters or stories like we did. Joe should be a dedicated line of Classic figures exclusively for collectors like MOTUC and TF Masterpieces. GI joe is for US....kids can go play Call of Duty or Smash Brothers. I for one am perfectly willing to spend more to get the figures I want, without the hassle of retail. Cause I'm an adult and isn't that what we're allowed to do with our disposable income? Sideshow had the right idea but they let me down by changing the designs too much and I'm not a 1/6th guy. 1/12th is PERFECT for me. Just my opinion and I'm sure I'll be shouted down, but I would be ecstatic to see adult ARAH Joe collectors get the love that MOTU and TF collectors get. We already have perfect 3.75" versions of some characters like Snake-Eyes, CC and SS. There's no reason for them to waste tooling on remaking these characters in 3.75". And what a boring 3.75" line it will be if they just keep packing in repacks.
The only way to do something new with those core characters in the line is to bring them up to this new scale. Anyone who thinks a 6" SDCC SE w/ Timber won't be an instant sellout at the SDCC show and on HTS is either fooling themselves or of limited mental capacity. So since we all agree this product will sell out why not test the waters and produce it? While the success of any full G.I. Joe line at retail is iffy, a 6" line is as worth a try as 12", Combat Heroes, Kre-os or anything else. What the hell was that 6"-ish line we got for Retaliation or Rise of Cobra, Battle Bashers or something? Why was no one claiming that line would destroy the line? They just seemed to ignore it. So, please, naysayers, just shut up and ignore this line as well. Because logic shows far more of us want this line than we did the basher masher crap that got made. Someone said this elsewhere but, it's worth repeating: Why would I want buy a figure 2" taller than one I have already? And why would I want to pay twice as much for a 6" figure than what I'm already paying for 4" figure?

We also know Hasbro doesn't support multiple scales of G.I. Joe outside of a movie promotion year. That's why a lot of 4" collectors aren't interested.

What you claim to "know" is 100% wrong. We just had a year with a 4" line and a Kre-o line, two scales. We had 4" and 12" lines from Hasbro concurrent on the shelves for years before Rise of Cobra came out. Statements like yours make it easy for those of us supporting the 6" line to dismiss what you naysayers say as laughable, alarmist, reactionary, ignorant, inaccurate, irrelevant and nonsensical.
Also the statement that "352 people" is somehow all that will purchase the 6" line. I mean are you trying to give us all belly laughs here with inane comments? Because it's working. Quote:
Because if you understood cubic inches for a 3-dimensional product you'd know you're getting a bargain. The actual size goes from about 2 cubic inches to 6 cubic inches, meaning you're getting 3 times as much mass for only 2 times the price. You can weigh a 6" figure against a 4" figure to see the difference as well. Last edited by JediJones; 01-03-2015 at 10:25 AM.. |
