The crowd that would buy the 6" figures is just a small piece of the 4" Joe pie. Why not focus on the rest of that pie?
Mmm, pie. The only 6" figure that I would accept would be an upscaled version of the ARAH figures. Pretty much what Gentle Giant is doing with the 12" figures, only I'd want the best version of each figure, not the straight arm. And for about $20. Not that ri-damn-diculous $120 price tag. The 4" figures are great, but never once have I thought that they'd be better if they were slightly bigger. 50th Destro is the biggest figure that we need. If they want the retro money, give us a retro figure. |

I posted this on another forum today.
I just got the NECA Batman movie figure and I was just so impressed. Look at this line up of amazing 80s toys in 6-7 inch scale. Look at the detail and articulation and paint....these toys are AMAZING. What's missing? It's obvious. Just imagine how amazing Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow would look in there too, in that size and format. I can't believe so many people on this board hate the idea. Just don't get it. It would be a dream come true for me. |

While there IS a vocal group firmly opposed to it, just about every poll we've run on this site in the past couple years usually points to 6" being at least entertained, if not outright wanted.

I'm interested. No harm in it. If you don't like it you get to save a bunch of money for club offerings. Something JOE is better than nothing JOE.

There in lies the problem a( poll on this site )of course they're in favor of it . You need a larger sample then just people who are predisposed to buying the product in the first place.

I'm sure if such a poll was posted to other, more general interest, sites, the results would be even greater in support of a 6" collector oriented Joe line.

I love 4" figures. I fucking LOVE 'em. But, that said, I think Hasbro has done all they can with them...or, rather, all that they're WILLING to do with them. I'm sure there's some way to present them that would shake things up as much as the 25th line originally did, but that would take money and effort...two things Hasbro seems not to want to bother to expend on the Joe line as of late.
That said, I think a 6" line would be great. It would probably bring Joe some much-needed mainstream attention and catch the eyes of people who may have passed it by (in recent years "Hey! Look, they make Joe figures in 6" scale now! When did THAT happen?"). Put the quality into it that the Star Wars Black line gets and it might just kickstart Joe's popularity once again...at least, to some degree. Plus, it's a fun way to shake things up and give old favorites a fresh take...imagine Cobra Commander given the Black treatment. I'd buy it...maybe not to the degree that I would the 4" Joes, but I'd certainly buy my favorites, and if you notice the release and distribution of the Star Wars Black series, the waves are smaller (usually 4 figures at a time), making it easier to afford and keep up with as opposed to a wave of 10 or so different figures at a time. I never want the 4" line to go away, but I'd welcome a 6" addition (in before dick jokes).
