Why does Hasbro think it can sell a GI Joe 6" line when they already feel that the product brand doesn't sell with it's 3.75" line?
At least this won't cost me any $! |

ARAH in the Modern Era Body is played out. How many more of the same character can you buy in the same size class, and the ones that have not been made yet are weak at best and that's why the line is stale.

That's a very narrow view. If you start doing ARAH characters in a new size class you can make new versions of the most iconic Joes and Cobra characters that most of the fan base identify with. Right now only really hard core fans are holding on. If you open up a new scale you bring a much bigger fan base back to the brand.

Now honestly, I too have asked for some of these, and a few like Duke really could use a proper 4’’ update (an easy one too), but with the reduced quality as of late—I’m lukewarm on the whole idea now. A change would be welcome. Whether the best avenue is 6’’, or a different kind of 3.75’’, or something more extreme…I can’t say for sure. But it’s been a long while since Retaliation came and went. I hope some bold and different ideas for Joe were conjured up at Hasbro between then and now. Hopefully we’ll get a glimpse of them this year.

It also serves to bolster the idea that Joe needs to move beyond ARAH if it's going to continue in the four inch market.

ARAH in the Modern Era Body is played out. How many more of the same character can you buy in the same size class, and the ones that have not been made yet are weak at best and that's why the line is stale. If you do ARAH characters in a new scale you're just rehashing the same thing over again. You'll sell to a point and then the line will die out again. It's a short term solution that may backfire. If the "much bigger fan base" doesn't come back to the brand then this was for nothing. There's no gurantee that 6" Joe will sell better then what the 50th did. That "much bigger fan base" might not come back because of the scale change. Not everyone wants 6" figures. ARAH is definitely played out at 4"/ME and would be a very short term sales at 6" before it gets played out as well. MAYBE, emphasis on the "maybe", the Legends fans would grab some of the 6" but that still wouldn't end up doing anything long term for the brand. If Hasbro is going to do a 6" line, or even a new 4" line, it has to be something new. New designs, new direction. Anything else is just short term.

However, I do agree with DESTRO in that 6" could very well do for the ARAH collecting community what Black did for Star Wars:
By starting fresh, with recognizable versions of characters, it was a shot in the arm with a 3.75 segment that was played out. It's obviously not a long term solution, nothing about remaking ARAH will be, but I don't see it as any more detrimental than another season of mediocre TRU exclusives would be.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... New size Joes will not save/revive the brand... Doesn't matter who they make, if they tweak the looks or gear, doesn't matter... The success of joes will always come back to how to get today's kids to buy into GI Joe... No cartoon, no movies, no video games = 1 out every 25 kids even know what GI Joe is... Since hasbro just cares about making money, then yea they'll probably release some of these 6", but only because there's reasoning that the adult collectors will support this and every other hunk of junk that hasbro or the club wants to slap the GI JOE stamp on... Are these ARAH fans or just GI Joe fans that want these in 6"? Give em Joe Colton and a fuzzy hair guy with a scar on his face in 6" and tell all these guys there's your F'n 6" Joe now go away... Toys are about the kids, not the cast from Comic Book Men

Joe isn't as big a collecting community as Star Wars. How many of the 4" collectors will migrate over to 6" to get ARAH designs in 6" form? I sure won't. I have no interest in seeing any ARAH designs in any format again. Now a new Joe, with new designs and direction, in a new scale MIGHT be something I'd be interested in. But probably not as I don't collect 6". That's the risk with going from 4" to 6", it could lose more fans then it gains. That's the detriment to doing it. High risk for low reward.

After 7 years of the 25th lines are you really going to get a Joe collectors to invest in a 6" line? The 50th was a buried shared exclusive at best with very little shelf space at TRU and only marketing to the fan base. I am not convinced 6" will save the brand.
