Do you love GI Joe? Do you want to know everything that happened behind the scenes that brought us GI Joe from the mouths of the creators, designers and employees of Hasbro? Ever wonder why a character or vehicle looked a certain way? Do you like freedom?
If you answered yes to any or all of these questions then there's a big treat for you waiting on the Facebook G.I. Joe Discussion group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/540476526008915/ G.I. Joe Discussion is a closed group that you must join to participate. The group is THE place to get great information, behind the scenes photographs, pre production art and great tidbits from the men that helped create one of the most popular toy lines ever. The examples below are just a small portion of the great things you get to see. Please, carefully read the following for the guidelines on posting a question, not all will be submitted to the four, but the more interesting and unique questions, the a better chance they get answered. Do not post questions here. Quote:

In each thread, you can ask as many questions as you like over a period of 3 days (or more we haven't decided). After those 3+ days, the questions will be compiled and the best ones will be chosen to be answered by each guest and sent to them and the threads deleted. So Kirk, Ron, Larry, and Guy will NOT be answering the questions in the threads provided. The answers will come later. On xmas day, the answers from each guest will be posted for everyone to see. We encourage you to ask questions that don't require the guest to remember specific details from 30 years ago about a figure's hat, a mislabeled accessory, the number of missiles on a tank, or a thought bubble over a comic drawing's head that you've been curious about since it was published. Keep in mind that these guys have been asked every question there is, dozens and dozens of times. This is an opportunity to dig a bit deeper. To get to know the guest, their stories, their process. The more information your provide, the more information they can provide. The more interesting the question, presumably, the more interesting the answer. Great stuff from Ron Rudat. He designed quite a lot of stuff for GI Joe like the Sears Cobra HQ and the Thunder Machine as well as the real name for Dusty. Quote:

And great stuff by Guy Cassaday... he designed many vehicles for GI Joe like the X-30, Persuader and many more (go to the discussion group to read more) and his likeness was used for Cross Country. Quote:

I named it "Persuader" because of it's laser Cannons to kick "COBRA" booty! Also, it was tough, fast pursuit tank. Management liked the reason and the name stuck. A little GI Joe trivia for the collector...the front fender label has a serial number. The serial number incorporates my last name! Also, my illustration has an antenna, which was costed out for production. I just wish the whip antenna's weren't cost reduced out. By the way the "DEAD EYE" on the rear of the Turret was dedicated to my father. In WW2, he was in the Coast Guard. It was his job to shoot the sharks when the men decided to take a swim to cool of in the summer months when deployed. I was trained as an automotive designer ( Art Center College of Design ). When I designed any vehicle for GI Joe, Flying or land themed, I wouldn't deviate from that original design. Keeping in mind, all designers were building their prototype models for duplication..so it was challenging as you can imagine. So, if you study the side curve on the Persuader, you will see that the sides aren't flat and even the curve is a complex shape as well. It drove the guys in the model shop crazy trying to maintain that element. If you do not know who Larry Hama is, you need to crawl back under a rock, lol... he wrote most of the original Marvel comics issues and most of the file cards, and Kirk Bozigian was the product manager on A Real American Hero, a technical advisor for the cartoon and comics as well as the likeness for Law! (& Order) So click and join the fun today, you will not be disappointed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/540476526008915/ Thanks to Gyre-Viper for the opportunity to get some great insight from the creators and designers themselves.

Well, what the hell are you waiting for? Those pics were just a sampling! The stories they share, the info they have... clears up a lot of speculation.
Also, the Boss Fight Guys are all members there too, and they have a lot of stories to tell about the more recent GI Joe stuff.

Discussion is a great group.
Aside from the guy's listed above, there are a lot more former Hasbro designers from all eras in the group. Some are more vocal then others.

I'm really looking forward to this Q&A. I know there have been stories I've heard dozens of times before, but it never gets old listening to this stuff!

Also, hurry! They want to start compiling the approved questions as soon as possible. I was supposed to start on this over the weekend, but the wife broke her foot and was in surgery and a cast, lol...
