it sounds more and more like the factory either doesn't care, or they're really rushing, or drunk on the job. I had a chance to talk with Brian at the con, and I got his side of the story. I know some things are out of his hands, and not everything goes smoothly, but this sets qc is unacceptable. There is no excuse for this many problems. Something needs to be done, because you now have a lot of unhappy customers.

If it isn't about cost, its about concept or parts used... then of course QC.. but at the price we are paying for a horrible concept put together with old parts... they should be perfect! ;)

I didn't buy the set. Does that give me the right to complain?

Sure.. it doesn't have to be just about the set.. it can be anything joe related, club or hasbro. We don't discriminate. ;)

After the Night Force set, they automatically sent out the missing Psych-Out dish and Hit and Run feet. I was impressed. This one is obviously a bigger deal... it's much harder to swap out arms. They would pretty much have to make new complete figures. But I think that should be done if they received faulty product from the factory. Yep, mine too. I think it's just an old, tired mold. |

I don't know that's fair.

Found my Lamprey officers tonight and noticed that was the body they used for the Annihilators.. and all of their right arms are also loose. So I assume it is the socket on that upper body being bad.

Point taken on the dish and feet. Well, the feet, anyway. Those were defective. The dish was just plain left out. Like the Iceberg head though, the rash of mismatched arms pretty much ruins the figure. Both are "passable" in casual observation, but those of us buying these things are anything but casual. We pay good money for this stuff. As far as fair goes, I do t find it particularly fair that we pay premium pricing for something that goes through minimal QC. FP either can't or won't follow through on making the big issues right. And if the answer is "can't" then there are some manufacturing contracts that need a bit less of a smoky back room deal smell to them.
I do think that we're probably seeing the results of rising labor costs being reflected in the QC. The factory I'm sure is responsible for QC... it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever for the Club to try and review each component of each set. These things must be caught at the factory with only a very small percentage of errors creeping through. However, we know the Club has to use the same factories that Hasbro uses. And given the absurd quality control of the 50th figures (like how many monstrous looking Lady Jaye's made it to retail), it doesn't seem surprising that we would also see a decline in QC of the Club's figures. Although, I will say that personally I have reviewed 70% of the con figures I bought for errors (including Metal-Head), and so far have found none. Obviously, people's experiences will vary... |
