Yes. I didn't want to buy anything other than o-ring, but after buying everything "new scupt", modern era, kre-o, and recently pre-ordering the first gentle giant jumbo figure, I'm sure I'll get these too. I think I'll limit my army building though. Maybe just one of each figure. No more than 2 troopers/vipers.

I also ignore the Kreos, the 5 POA 12 inch figures and the role play stuff... Now Sideshow I could go for but each item is so expensive I cant justify taking spending away from 4 inch stuff I want.
This just seems like a way to push out the same characters again instead of going deep into the roster, and like a few people have said its a way for Hasbro to get us to re buy everyone and get all of those sales without having to create any new content character wise. There is an element of planned obsolesce to try and get us away from the collections and material we have momentum with. I also see an element of trying something completely different just so an exec can point at it and say " look, we changed directions" by simply abandoning one scale and starting another rather than try and actually invest effort and creativity into the classic scale that has always worked and that we all have kept up with. On the other hand I guess it is a different way to enjoy the property and I can and will just ignore it since it is so offensive to me. I will try and say one nice thing. If they do a BAT I might get one used ( cant support this by giving them a retail sale) and pretend its a prototype scaled up BAT since robots can be built any size. That's the ony way I can imagine it being useful to the real Gi Joe toys. edit: I thought of another positive... if the Con and club exclusives all go to this crap I will be relieved that I wont be missing anything good and hopefully the 4 inch real Joes will be relegated to retail or dollar store releases which are just my speed, I like things that are readily available and affordable and I always hate when good 4 inch obscure stuff is offered by cons or the club and then I either have trouble or cant get it or speculators ruin its availability....scalpers and speculator lowlifes can hopefully latch on to this 6 inch crap and leave the real Joes for Kids and me!

If true I'm glad this is the direction they're going. Many fans of G.I. Joe who still love the brand, but left the 3 3/4" form factor may flock back if the 6" versions still capture the essence of Joe's greatness. After all, who wouldn't love a 6" Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Destro, Alpine, et. al.? I'd be front and center to at least see how they turned out. If they are anything like SW Black Series, Hasbro WILL be getting my dollars.

I'm definitely in. This is what I've been hopinh for since I opened my first Star Wars Black Series 6" a couple of days ago.
I hope they go for classic, RAH looks and release different versions of each character too. I'd love if they would start with the quintessencial version of each character and now and then release the other versions. Most of all, I hope they don't just go Snake Eyes crazy or Cobra Commander crazy like in the past few lines. |

Yea that Star Wars black 6 inch is just pointless to me... and that has opened the door to now there are tiny ones, galactic heroes, angry birds star wars, transformers star wars, 4 inch, 6 inch, 12 inch 18 inch a scale between 18 and 31 that's 20 something and 31 inch... to me that's all just a bunch of mishmashed incoherent ( from a brand POV) garbage clogging up the shelves when I just want figures of characters that goes with the stuff I already play with... I just want more of it. Non of that stuff fits together.

I could be into these as long as they try to keep the price manageable. The SW black are $20 a piece! Of course Stormshadow and Snake Eyes will be instant purchases. At $20 or higher I can't see this line gaining much traction. Think how much a Hiss tank would be.... Like $60. This being said I went for quite a few Sideshows. So I will probably cave and buy them all😉

Well, the Black Series came out well after most of the stuff you mentioned. Plus, and with no offense meant, this isn't about what you or I personally want/like - it's about what will bring the brand continued success. Your point earlier about more eaglehawk/wolf...that didn't really work out. Eaglehawks shelfwarmed and now wolves are doing the same as people refuse to pay full retail price and want clearance. A 6" line tailored to collectors and a new, different, kid-centric line is exactly what this brand needs to survive. If we keep on with the same ole, same ole, then we will have nothing but the club to fall back on, as it's been proven time and time again that we cannot support the brand by ourselves. |
