Your right there are ways around it. If he's the only one I want from the wave though it's not really worth the hassle. Just let me order what I want. I think bill has some cool ideas and figures coming out but my interest is just in the EFR.

I'm seeing some interesting space-themed reveals but I hope they don't distract too much from the Eagle Force military/adventure GI Joe replacement so many were wanting. Some here and there's OK but I don't remember anything TOO bizarre in Eagle Force.
That said though, if these are their own sub-line are the COPS and Action Heroes still on the table or shelved for now? Quote:
Seems like Bill has an appetite for anything and everything, with the imagination and drive to bring it all together and to fruition. If there's a common denominator to it all, I would say it's pulp-story themes (military, action, space adventure, space fantasy, cosmic, superheroes, monsters, etc). In terms of how it all rolls out, it's natural that people want more of the stuff they are primarily interested in and less of the stuff they aren't so into. To my mind, the beauty of how Bill is approaching this is two-fold. Firstly, there's something for everyone at all times. Secondly, the way he's integrating everything, gives more opportunity for people to consider things beyond their narrower interests. There's an interesting contrast here with Boss Fight. Both pitched integrated universes ranging across disparate themes. But their approaches are very different. Boss Fight chose to produce one theme at a time. And they really haven't delivered the ties that bind them (just the odd time-displaced character and no Vitruvian crew in our hands yet). So, personally as someone waiting for their space figures (and Vitruvian crew) and not feeling much story-wise to draw me into their other themes, I haven't really been able to support them much. On the other hand, Fresh Monkey is dipping its toes everywhere simultaneously. So, at each juncture, I've been able to find enough that's up my alley to support and preorder. And the way it's all integrated and coming in together, it has got me excited about themes that I wouldn't necessarily have been into, with cool concepts attracting me to impulse purchases. There's probably some business maxim being proven here. About the key hurdle being getting customers in the door and opening their wallets, because once they do, it's that much easier to get them to add on purchases. With Fresh Monkey, I'm in the mode of preordering at every juncture, and so my default when in doubt is to add on extra preorders. Whereas Boss Fight, my wallet has been mostly stuck in my pocket, so even when there's cooler things, my default is to be inclined to leave it there. Not trying to dump on Boss Fight, I do have a bunch of their figures and a lot of respect for them. It's just an interesting study in contrasts. I feel like Fresh Monkey has had the right approach, and it seems like Boss plans to change course. They've discussed adjusting to where future waves will have multiple themes running concurrently. My wallet awaits. And if they could do more to integrate the themes, I'd probably be more inclined towards impulse add-ons there too. Last edited by jabalong; 06-26-2022 at 12:13 AM.. |
