I imagine a Disney owned GI Joe would be more commercially successful than Joe currently is.

It would seem that Disney really likes nostalgia so I'm guessing any GI Joe cartoons or live action movies under the Disney flag would play up the nostalgia factor fairly hard. While the Marvel movies under Disney aren't word for word, image for image, exact copies of the comic books the films have still left a lot of comic book geeks feeling like the movies were a comic book come to life. I'm guessing the casting of any live action films would feel more like people born to play the role rather then hey we can make just about anyone fit the role. So far Star Wars Rebels is looking like Disney is willing to put that extra level into cartoons they acquire as well. While there would be military trappings for the nostalgia factor I'm guessing Disney would play up the adventure factor since they like their big action films to be an adventure romp of some type. Honestly comparing the films that Paramount has put out in the last 5 or 10 years to what Disney has put out I'd gladly welcome a mouse eared overlord. Heck maybe even a trip to Disney Land since they would have cool GI Joe and Cobra stuff at Disney World then. But with Paramount not having many franchises to make big summer films out of things would have to get really bad for Paramount to give up the Hasbro brands. And I don't see Disney taking on a GI Joe cartoon if they can't also have the live action rights, Transformers, My Little Pony, and all the rest go with it. |

With no new Joe cartoons, commercials, and with Joe products dwindling to almost nothing, what's the point in even keeping the fan boards like Hisstank, OG13, YoJoe!, and others up and running? What's the point? Soon, we'll have no Joe toys, no comics, no club, and we'll just be a group of middle aged men and women complaining how Hasbro's not making any new product, the stores are not supporting the Joe brand, not enough people buying the stuff, and we will just be sitting here reflecting on the glory days of GI Joe...wait, shit! we do that now! This is bad! This is really bad!

With Renegades still being given prime position on Netflix (over more popular brands like Batman, even), I would LOVE to see what the number for the various Joe cartoons are on services like Netflix. Quote:

What's the point? Because we are fans who wish to talk to other fans about this brand we love. There are still boards and sites dedicated to practically EVERY other dead property out there, from Dino-Riders, to MASK, to Thundercats, to Xevoz. We shouldn't NEED to be strung alone with "something NEW" every frickin' minute to sustain our love for the brand. If you do need that, maybe you aren't as big a fan as you think you are. And all things considered, GI Joe is probably in a better place from a support standpoint than a LOT of properties at this stage. Quote:
Tough call since we are talking about a hypothetical deal. But I think we could look at the other things Disney has in it's portfolio to make some reasonable guesses.

Truthfully, if Disney ever bought Hasbro (which, as I've stated before, I view highly unlikely to ever happen), GI Joe would probably join the likes of Tron or Gargoyles in which it'd be swept under the rug in favor of bigger properties with more significant international appeal. Between Marvel, Star Wars and Transformers, I don't see any real place for GI Joe under the Mouse.
