The series seems like it's picking up the pace. Looks like I'll have to wait until the TPB is released...

Is the artwork intentionally drawn like it was from the movie Heavy Metal, i.e.: craptastic?

Why the hell is Mainframe dressed up as Snake Eyes???
I know in the IDW Joe-verse Mainframe wants to get it on with Scarlett but come on.

Totally disagree. Paul Gulacy is the only good artist drawing any G.I. Joe comic these days. ARAH has chicken scratch art, Cobra Files has "avant-garde-a-clue" art that looks like it came from DC Vertigo and G.I. Joe plain looked like a bad Liefeld/Lee Image clone last I looked at it. Gulacy has been drawing comics since the '70s, is talented, experienced and knows what he's doing. His pages look great, dynamic, clean, clear, expressive. It looks like he's trying to capture the real world, not adopting some ugly, freaky style like most of the crap comics published these days. This is in the tradition of the great comic book art Marvel did on Joe and other titles in the '80s, back when clarity, realism and discipline was enforced by great editors like Jim Shooter.

The panel with the three Vipers and the tower in the background is awesome. Love it.
The faces of the female characters on the other hand . . . especially the panel with Hard Drive being restrained and Helix . . . yikes. |
