Zorro's ankles look really similar to what was used on the Marvel Legends Red Onslaught series Taskmaster and MCU Vulture series Moon Knight. It's going to be really hard to complain if the Boss Fight joint works similarly. The joint looks a little more spherical, but that prevents the weird angles you typically get on a normal ankle rocker.
But if you look at the Anthony's Customs video reviews for those figures, he mentions that it's a more expensive joint assembly. So to manage the cost of the line, I wouldn't expect it to become standard. If Zorro didn't have a horse to ride, he'd probably have regular male foot articulation. I'm equally excited for the in-house and licensed figures. I love the themes and can't wait for the futuristic Vitruvian adventure, but licensing brings more parts overall. I can't wait to do some head and hand swaps on Cha Cha's female suit body even though I'm not that excited for Cha Cha herself. For a fun and modular line like this, a license is just another entry point to the party. |

A little late, but my take on rockers is that they're better if you want the figure to crouch down (say if they're moving and firing from behind cover), because they can bend forward further than a standard ankle joint. They also seem to capture the way a foot moves better to me (barring physically impossible 180 rotations), because the leg swivels at the knee, not the ankle. I'll admit, I never thought of the 'feet are straight forward unlike real life' thing, but that bothers me less than the limits standard ankle joints put on crouching poses.

So does this Umbrella Academy announcement mean we might see some Battlestar Galactica figures down the road?

My unsolicited take on action figure ankles: it's all good. They're ankles and we're lucky they have joints at all. If I'm gonna get uptight about a joint, it's gonna be leg/hip joints. Like the Star Wars TVC hip joint...wtf is that? What an overly complicated system for...what, exactly? Those Star Wars guys must have something against simplicity and ease of use. I mean, just let that stupid shit go and use what's been working for everyone else since 1982.

Yeah, I meant it as kind of a “wth, why?” Kinda comment. Is it that popular? I never heard of it until today.
