Even IDW knows the brand is dead.

If this is anything like the other G.I. Joe titles they've been throwing at us in recent years, (minus ARAH), I have zero interest.

I think all the negativity is funny... the tag line "the fall of GIJoe" suggests to me that GIJoe will "own" the fall months. I think IDW will focus on transformers this summer due to the movie and ressurect GIJoe in the fall months...

I'm looking forward to this, been loving IDW's Joe books, especially Costa's stuff, but Dixon too.
I don't think the line is dead, it does about average for a non Marvel/DC book in the direct market. Not huge, but that's about what say the Sonic comics sell, those have been going forever. Each title selling around the 6k range or so. Plus there are trade paperback sales from amazon and Barnes and Noble etc. And creatively, for me it's very much alive. That said, it would be nice if IDW communicated with the fans a bit more, what with the books just disappearing from the solicits for months. But hey, bring on September! As for the story, I'm thinking the title will be a bit literal, with Cobra dismantling GI Joe. Could be cool stuff. |
