I'm sure I'd buy one of each, that's what I've been doing since '07 (well two of each, but at $20 a pop, probably just 1 of each for 6"). They'd have to look better then the Marvel figures though.

oh very cool pictures, I didn't notice there was pictures until I looked on the main page and saw them. My HISS tank link goes directly to the forums. So that's what the link is in the first post is for. lol I completely over looked that.

would love to see some 6" figures- would be the middle ground to the classic size and Sideshows 12" figures that I was collecting but sold off to support my other hobbies.
I stopped collecting Star Wars figures back in 2009- but love the Black Series 6" line and started collecting them again- much to my wifes dismay...but she's happy that they are few of them on the market.

It's hard for me to answer that question with 100% certainty.
I do not like the idea of larger GI Joes simply because I do not have room, nor do I wish to start over with a new line. It would be difficult to justify the cost to my wife, she would probably make me continue with the smaller scale since I have more of them. However, that being said, if Hasbro went that direction and the figures looked good enough, I might buy. Problem is the "core character" talk... I've never been interested in GI Joe's core characters alone. The ensemble of quirky, over the top, goofy characters is why GI Joe appeals to me. I like Bazooka, Alpine and Raptor. Never really cared that much for Duke, Stormy or Snakes. I know the 6 inch line appeals to a wider base of collectors simply because a few can be put on a shelf with others of that size, not necessarily from the same line. TMNT figures can accompany Marvel guys simply to show off a shelf of 80s toys, etc... I suspect the same would happen with a 6 inch Joe line. Snake Eyes, Stormy and Cobra Commander would be all those other guys would buy. A few would be popular, but no one besides Joe collectors would want a 6 inch Barbecue or Lift Ticket. So I would ultimately vote no.

<-- Another "Hell No."
Hasbro can't properly distribute the normal sized figures, why make things worse? The SW Black Series 6" figures don't look all that great, IMO. The scales are all over the place, too. When I saw the press announcement for them, along with a publicity pic of the Luke X-Wing figure, I thought it was some kind of online prank. I had never read or heard of any interest for a 6" line before.

At the $20 price point I balk at purchasing even iconic Star Wars characters like Luke, Han, Chewie, et. al., so I'm not sure how I'd feel about going 6" for Joe. I just don't see it being a concept that will catch on. Mostly because personally I'm pretty comfortable with Joe's at the 3 3/4" scale- the take up less room on a shelf and are already compatible with existing vehicles. Starting over at a new scale is going to alienate Vintage fans and most likely put the final nail in the coffin for the brand at retail. Sure iconic characters like Baroness, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow will sell in decent quantities, but that isn't going to power a healthy and lengthy line.
Nope, I think this concept should be killed before it ever starts. Quick question. Is this just fandom spit-balling ideas here or is there serious talk at Hasbro of doing this? Because if so... again, no. Just no. Last edited by Stygian; 03-14-2014 at 05:06 PM.. |

I will fully support the ME format as long as Hasbro and/or the Club continues to make them. Very little interest in a new scale or redo. I would likely buy a couple, but will not get into it in a major way (just like Star Wars Black).

No. It just makes no sense. The magic of ARAH was the size of the figure. You'd still be marketing it to grown men, and I really don't see a need for anything in between the 4" figures and the Sideshow stuff.
If you want to get the kids interested, make the Joes fun again. Lose some articulation, design some iconic (not necessarily realistic) figures, and make them all new. No old characters. Make them 5 points of articulation if you have to, just to kill off us old collectors. We're like weeds. |
