I'm getting the feeling that the 50th anniversary of the original action figure is not a big deal. Hasbro is gonna release a handful of product that really could have been anything else. The club does a Con 50th 12-inch set, but the 3 3/4 is something out of left field.
Maybe we should call it what it is - this is the 50th Anniversary of the original 12-inch G.I. Joe, not ARAH of 1982. Hasbro didn't do any 12-inch commemoratives, therefore they won't be at Joe Con. Plus, the 50th product shown only in pics at a Toy Fair were last minute, "Holy Cow, the fans and collectors were expecting 50th product!!!" stuff, not a production and marketing strategy planned months in advance. Therefore, no Hasbro at Joe Con.

Looks like it's time to start focusing on other toy lines and companies because at this point, it has become crustal clear to even the most casual fan that Hasbro simply had no interest on the GI Joe line.

this news has no bearing on the future of the Joe line. there will be product for the 3rd movie. there's no one to go to joecon from the joe team because there isn't a joeteam and anyone working on the 50th should be working on that instead of giving a panel to 500 of so joefans.
major overreaction here. disappointing? yes. end of the world? no.

Hasbro should have just kept moving forward with the line in 2012. First wave (unused game designs, early preproduction ideas) in Spring, second wave (first somewhat accurate movie figures) in summer, and a new third wave (whether it was 30th celebration pieces, more accurate screen figures, or whatever else in a nice mixture to carry the Xmas season) in the Fall to keep a good simmer on as the movie was delayed. As soon Spring approaches again, hit hard with a new Wave 4 line-up of movie-related items to drive home for the movie about to hit theaters. Sure the final line-up could be as large as 6 waves, but keeping the line alive would have done wonders for sales instead of the pause button.

Yeah because G.I. Joe fans who are attending the Official Hasbro G.I. Joe convention and dropping around $3000.00+ if your coming from out of town, should be happy to be told to go see the 50th Anniversary Product at SDCC. Makes perfect sense, I get it now.... Thanks

At least let someone show up and thank all the fans.
Many of us had supported the line for a long time, and it's the brand's 50th anniversary, It that too much to ask? |

The Hasbro panels are usually the panels with the best attendance. WOJM better step up their game this year.
The club has two hours to fill, should be interesting to see what kind of panels we get. I do hope IDW comes back this year.
