per the Associated Press this morning:
"Hasbro said it intends to announce details of its 50th anniversary plans during this year's fair in New York on Feb. 16-19" Here's the article that's being picked up nationally: GI Joe, the world's first action figure, turns 50 Check it out, I heard it on NPR this morning, Joe will be at Toy Fair... that means toys! BTW, this Tearle Ashby guy in the AP article is a d-bag - "The 12-inch G.I. Joe built that company," said Tearle Ashby, of the New York village of Ballston Spa. "The stuff they put out now is garbage." Last edited by TARGETSIX; 02-06-2014 at 08:42 AM.. |

I knew we would get something, at least later in the year. The 25th line didn't really start showing up until late '07 early '08. Keep hope alive!

Oh yeah! Looking forward to the news.
It's going to be interesting to see what they do. Will there be 12" offerings? 3-3/4"? Both?

Yeah, the 25th line didn't come out till after SDCC '07. The Hasbro booth that year had the first Joe and Cobra 5-packs available so attendees could buy them before they showed up at retail.

It is good to hear that there is going to be something at ToyFair. Hopefully it will be some good stuff.

The AP story has been picked up by:
The Washington Post The Houston Chronicle Boston.com Yahoo News Austin American Statesman The Huffington Post and what looks to be at least another 100+ news outlets both national and local. This is a great story to lead into Toy Fair with for Hasbro and the GI Joe Brand. Last edited by TARGETSIX; 02-06-2014 at 09:26 AM.. |

Here's my tinfoil theory on what this year will bring:
A 12" line dedicated to the original G.I. Joe (perhaps available through an exclusive retailer, i.e. Toys R Us or the like) A 6" "Star Wars Black" line which will be produced on a limited scale, like the 25th anniversary was initially proposed. Maybe 12 characters in the first wave, 6 of each side, with the option to produce 3-5 more waves throughout the year if this line sells well enough. A 4" homage set to the original 1980s line A series of repaints of existing Retaliation characters A wave of figures that were hard to find, such as the Night Viper wave Something totally new and unheard of. Take all these theories with a grain of salt. We might get something much cooler than any of this.
