Just because Brian Goldner does what's best for him, doesn't mean Hasbro is doing what's best for Joes. Generally speaking.

My post was 100% sarcasm. What my post was objecting to is the overly negative tone of many of these posts. If a dude doesn't think there will be new Joes this year, then fine. However, many people feel the need to dump on anyone who is excited and optimistic for Joes this year. Why?

As the person who originally posted this thread over a week ago let me say this: My expectations are properly set for tomorrow. If we get something in the ballpark of one wave of figures, I'm satisfied. If we get more, it's fucking bonus time and if we get less I'll be disappointed (for about five minutes). No matter what, I won't loose any sleep b/c the club does a reasonable job of filling the gaps (except for re-using Snow Job's head for Outback, poor decision guys). As I've followed this thread I've been disappointed by those collectors who can't help but shit all over potential positive news. Brands are built on positive momentum, you're doing more damage than you realize with your supposed "realistic" yet pessimistic input. Are you so worried about being let down that you can't even dare to get engaged? To those who want to call out DePriest as some sort of liar, well you're just displaying your ignorance of how basically any business works. Guess what kids, plans change in business, especially in a six month+/- time frame. DePriest isn't actually in charge of Hasbro or the toy market. Here's my challenge to all the complainers and whiners; instead of bitching, redirect your energy, and email (or better yet, write an actual letter) Hasbro and tell them you want more GI Joe.

I see many threads positively discussing figures we want. I still do not see increased presence at retail. I bet people have written letters as well, to no avail. I think this is more of a situation where demand among a small population is high, but not among the general kid population. What really needs to be done with joe is have an online HTS exclusive offering(s). I hate to tell you this, but retail is not the answer and never will be, there is just not enough demand. Still, let's get a way for fans that are loyal, like us, to gey our gands on things retail would not support. Another bonus, no catering to retail and wave 1 being full of only core pegwarmers.
Hasbro got burned once on "direct to consumer" modelling with G.I. Joe and from the look of things it was so bad that they've basically sworn off doing it ever again (or certainly that was made quite emphatic for many years after the fact). The fact of the matter is that if G.I. Joe's fanbase has dwindled to the point that it's not worth putting items out at retail, then Hasbro is more likely to reconfigure the line into something unrecognizable (to us) than to go to a model that caters solely to the adult collector and nothing else. That's simply not the kind of company Hasbro is. For all the crap Mattel gets over MattyCollector, at least they have a segment that is purely collector focused (and even then...they get endless crap for it...some deserved, some the usual crap from collectors that like to ignore that even collector-based toys are still a business). Hasbro has no equivalent (HTS comes closest but even then not really), and if they were interested in doing it, they'd have done it by now. The closest thing to what you're describing may come out of this 3D printing thing they've just announced, but we have yet to see what that amounts to, and basically for anyone that's not a customizer or can't afford a 3D printer and the materials to run it, it's a non-starter. Unless 3D printers can put together fully articulated, fully painted action figures straight out of the box. |

That 3d printing thing seems more of a way to put the kabosh on the Transformers and Star Wars third party guys to me.
I dont think we will see any Joe product today. There is no Joe team at Hasbro, the line as we know it is probably gone, until the next movie with new 5 POA figures. and if they do show something it is the 50th of the twelve inch so it will probably be a TRU or Target exclusive 12" inch figure. |

Honestly, if we don't see anything this year, I won't be mad. I could use the time to save up and maybe catch up on a few things.

Yep, the honeymoon of love for new product will soon be over shadowed by why this and why that nitpicking.
