I'm a Starwars fan like anyone else, but I lost interest in Starwars many, many years ago and i haven't collected since. But I wouldnt having Boba Fett and maybe the Sand Trooper, everything else is fodder! plus i cant stand Darth Maul!! what a waste of material! now if it was Vader i would have a go for it or even Mara Jade.
I still need to pick up a new speeder bike and the large AT-AT since my niece broke my power of the force one many years ago. |

I voted no. I don't want to collect another scale. I do however like the detail of these figures. I might be tempted to pick up on of my more favorite characters but that's it.

I have all 5 of the Star Wars 6" Black figures so far, and I think they are amazing. Boba Fett is incredible, and the Darth Maul can actually stand unassisted on 1 leg! The thing about the Black Star Wars line though is it is chance to start fresh. We have been getting 3 3/4" Star Wars figures now for 18 straight years. Some characters like Vader have had dozens of figures. A lot of fans( myself included ) were getting burned out. This line is fresh, exciting, and masterpiece versions of the classic characters.
I voted yes for a 6" G.I. Joe line, but I would rather see them continue high quality( POC/30th style ) figures. Or do them both at the same time. But, have the 6 inch line be a best of classic characters. Kind of like the 25th, say the best 25 characters in 6" format. Whoever said call it G.I. Joe Black Ops had a brilliant idea. I love that. Also, remember G.I. Joe can be made at a slightly lower price point, since they don't have to pay royalties for their own designed product. If the kept them to $14.99-$15.99 I would buy them. They also would have to make them the very best incarnations you could buy. For example: Cobra Commander comes with both the 1982 chrome head and the masked head( like Retaliation ); Snake Eyes comes with the 1982 head and the 1985 head, as well as Timber and removable web-gear, Flint has a removable beret and so on. To be honest though I would just be happy to see the Concept Vault figures released next year. Last edited by FlintWO2; 08-30-2013 at 09:48 PM.. |

it would be an awsome addition to the collection. I stopped collecting SW about 6 years ago, and am now back in the fold collecting the 6" figures. Awsome packaging and the tooling is spot on. Would love to see the RAH classics

As soon as I opened mine I said "can't wait for the G.I. Joe Black Series". I'm in as long as they are 100% ARAH accurate.
EDIT: I posted that before I read this and "reality sank in" Last edited by Mista2x; 08-30-2013 at 08:12 PM.. |

Absolutely not. Sorry if this has already been said (tl;dr) but GI Joe 3 3/4" is part of pop culture. That figure size has been an established scale since the 1970s (perhaps indelibly through vintage Star Wars, ironically). GI Joe figures are already overpriced at $9.99 (I haven't bought a single Joe in the last TWO YEARS, other than a few Dollar General figures). An increase in scale will obviously increase the price point (again). The line doesn't need another jump in price, it's already hurting now. And, with the QUALITY which Hasbro's artists are able to get into the 3 3/4" Joes, why in the WORLD would Joe need to jump to 6" scale? The proportions, articulation, detail and equipment at the 1/18" size is PERFECT. Sometimes I wonder if Hasbro artists use CAD (computer aided drafting) to develop figures, today they are light-years ahead of 2007-2008 era (i.e. the beginning of the 25th).

I understand that there are those who love the 6" scale, but I will not buy them.

Yeah, like when Sigma Six totally killed 4" and we never saw...oh wait.
Not like we aren't already there with the existing line. AT least if 6" did kill off the line for a while, it would be a quick death, not the prolonged suffering we're putting up with in the 4" line. Here's my quibble with that ASSUMPTION: It contradicts trends we've seen from Hasbro dating back 30 years. Joe has almost ALWAYS offered a dynamic product on the lower end of the price spectrum with more content for LESS than licensed properties. If 6" Joes were $20, then by god, they would be WORTH $20. Though I suspect something closer to $15 with more per figure accessories, myself. AS to the topic: I still feel a 6" line can't really hurt the line anymore than the slow death we got going on. If Star Wars Black is any indication, then I think such a line would be a breath of fresh air for casual consumers AND collectors, and could easily bring in a HUGE number of new consumers from the comic collectors who prefer 6". Fortune favors the bold, and GI Joe could stand to be a bit more bold. Long time collectors will piss and moan and be resistant, but the same thing happened in 2007 when the brand lost a large swath of o-ring centric collectors when the ME body style was introduced. Personally, like most product lines these days, I'd be picking and choosing my purchases. I don't see a 6" line really restarting my "completionist" bug, but I can easily see myself picking up (depending on budget/quality) a few key characters (Falcon would be a preorder) and concepts (I probably couldn't resist a Crimson Guard). But as is, I'm barely collecting the core GI Joe line, so I don't see a more expensive/larger offering doing much for me long term. Not to mention that while Sigma six was around we didn't see much 4 inch quality product flooding the shelves... |
