It's hard to product. Overall it seems like Hasbro is producing less quanities/production runs of items this year, especially compared to the past 2 years. I've noticed that newer Hasbro toys are quicker to find this year, and that new waves don't take as long to find as before. I think Hasbro and retailers are both ordering less and producing less toys respectively so that they both are not stuck with an abundance of unsold toys destined for clearance retailers. With less quantities of toys produced, the backlog of unsold toys is lessened which makes way for newer waves once they are produced. Win/win situation for both Hasbro and retailers.

The Tomahawk has demand for sure, from us. I think most of us here will buy at least 1. Not sure if I will buy multiples. It isn't like the Skystriker where you can have different characters all pilot their own, the Tomahawk has a pilot and co-pilot but unlike the Skystriker it transports troopers. So for most collectors, maybe 1 is enough.

If my theory of less toys being produced overall is true we might not see many of the Eaglehawks hit clearance. I hope it sells well but if it doesn't, that's just the way it is. In the long run, though we are the primary buyers of GI Joe for Hasbro, kids who buy other toys/brands apparently outnumber us by a longshot....

...but on the other hand, let them have their cheap under-articulated toys and iPads. More Tomahawks and Joes for us.

As for the Skystriker I never saw that many at once, not even at Target(and I only saw once at Target). I do live in a primarily military area though so it's not like the Skystriker wasn't going to sell here. The most I saw at TJ Maxx was 3 at one time.

Actually the changes on the Eaglehawk are more subtle but are close to the Sky Striker in a way. Like the Skystriker, the seats(in the front) got pushed back. The Eaglehawk has new rotor assemblies that let the rotors not only detach, but also fold back when attached to save space. There are other differences too but it doesn't look drastically different.

I checked out the tru in Newport News va. No eaglehawks, however they had 8 artic destos and renegades cobra commander

I saw the ugly 5 point articulated RB/SS/SE figs, too. Rats! Maybe I didn't move some TF out of the way to search and missed it! Grrrr...

Well, yeah...but aren't the changes to the Eaglehawk positive (more room for ME figures, new rotor assemblies that won't break as easily, and the tint looks cool and won't show scratches as badly)? Wherein the Skystriker changes--like going from a 2-seater to a single seater--were negative changes.

I don't want to drive this off topic but I'll keep this response for the Sky Striker short. Overall it's made to survive today's kids, and in that respect, it trumps the original. However the cockpit is a 2 edged sword. On 1 hand, the designer gave it a lot more detail and Hasbro engineered the cockpit to not only be modular but tougher. On the other hand, the structural modifications combined with the new seat(mainly the former..that's actually what takes up the most space, not the seat...this is what I discovered after taking mine apart and subsequently turning 1 into a 2 seater), take away space for 2 figures to fit in properly. It can be made into a 2 seater with the existing cockpit but you have to cut away a lot of the new attachment points that were made for the 2011 Sky Striker XP-21F.

Yes the Eaglehawk improvements are largely positive but the front seats being pushed back do remind me of how the new Sky Striker's seat is further back too. I'm not complaining though I am looking forward to owning the Eaglehawk and I bought 7 Sky Strikers, will probably buy more if I see them locally.

bottom line is kids today are not playing with toys like i did in the 80's. There are far more other options for kids these days. Might be the reason why we are seeing 5pt articulation on figures. The companies must be thinking "why are we gonna put all this effort into these figures if they are going to sit on the pegs or end up at discount retailers.". its a passing thing. And i believe we are seeing the tail end of it.

Got mine today from a tru here in Indy. Wife called this AM while I was at work. They had them so she went and grabbed me one. With everyone talking about the box size I thought it was going to be small but it actually really is pretty big. About the size of two of the large retaliation vehicle boxes end to end.
