honestly- if I were running hasbro i would do the same damn thing- They probably saw the cost Mattel was dropping on their 'movie tie-in' kids lines and saw the returns there (lots of peg warming, right? Green Lantern, BatMan, now Supes) But then they looked at their movie lines and saw, guess what- lots of peg warming. Thor, IM2, Capt America- all still stuffing the shelves of toy stores... Which company invested the least amount of money into the toys? And to me- based on the crowded pegs- it was about the same return whether the toy had tons of articulation (IM2) or crap articulation (GL) Collector's CAN NOT support the market for action figures- only the youth market can do that and they dobn't seem to care about articulation other than not liking it if they can't stand a figure up (so-long knees)- and why invest in IM2 level figures when they STILL don't get bought. Slash the production cost and see what happens... this is Hasbro "seeing what happens"
Which brings up a good question, once a fully articulated base figure is downgraded to a 5pt articulated one, is it safe to say that that figure's reuse is doomed in the future as a fully articulated version ever again? Might be!

Silver samurai is a new mold
Wolverine in costume is a new mold Wolverine in (casual?) and the ninja are obvious re-mold into fewer parts- but since there is already a fully articulated version of Silver Samurai, costumed Wolverine and even the same casual looking Wolverine available you have to assume that the fewer parts is saving money- or else they would have just re-packaged the old figures. maybe it even comes down to the cost of the labor to put 5 pieces together vs. 16+ There is no way to believe that these things are not cheaper to produce for hasbro regardless of them already having a mold of a more articulated figure ready to go. |

Workers know what need to be done to get the lines on track and offer a quality product but when they question management's decisions, they are told to be quiet or risk losing their jobs. You're dead on based on what I've read. Less moving parts equals less plastic and molds and assembly thus production cost is lowered. |

Dont pay 10 bucks for these. I bought them cause they were ninjas to be honest and got 3 of them already and only paid 15 bucks total (5 bucks a pop). Dont pay 10 bucks for them it is not worth it.

PG-13 is the "sweet spot" to where it is still "appropriate" enough for younger kids, but allows enough "maturity" to appeal to older movie goers. Quote:
I could buy this if they were new molds, not existing molds that were tossed and converted down to 5pt articulation. They already wasted the money to make a fully poseable figure with retaliation and then dropped it back, changed it, scrapped it? That doesn't sound like it saved much money...especially if the original mold did not pay for itself before they cancelled the figure to be reduced to 5pt. Or they really made a dumb move and kept both molds...which would have been an up tick in production costs as they would have to make a new 5pt version of the fully articulated one.
And again, apparently the reduction in costs in labor and mold usage offset the costs needed to produce a new mold for this figure. However, given all the design work was already done for the Renegades Storm Shadow release, they probably saved weeks of time and several persons worth of resources in producing the figure compared to the Silver Samurai (which, as far as I can tell, is ALL new).

Why pay $9.99 for a cheap knockoff of a GI Joe, the only thing good is the head cause its factory painted black but $9.99 for a head is retarded. No, Hasbro lost out on money, had this been an actual repaint of a GI JOE articulated action figure they wouldve raked in some revenue.
As a kid, I wanted my Star Wars figures to be like GI JOE, not the other way around. Devolving back to retro crap articulation is something Hasbro keeps always trying to do, they did it a few times with their relaunch of GI JOE . Its like they keep changing wigs, one guy comes in gets us articulated modern action figures, he goes out and the other dick changes it back to crapticulation and the process repeats over and over again. |
