G.I. Joe VvV Comic Pack #1 High-Res Images
G.I. Joe VvV Comic Pack #1 Cobra Commander - Baroness - Cobra Trooper - GI Joe News This is a very solid set that includes G.I. Joe Issue #1. If you did not collect these when they hit retail, take a second look; very good assortments in the VvV comic packs. Valor vs Venom Comic Packs | eBay

I thought the range was a bit bland until you got to the third wave.
While I see what they were trying to do (get many of the "original 13" addressed while being conservative with tooling), I think segment lost a lot momentum by not doing the major characters like Duke, Roadblock, Destro, Flint and co early on.

Wish Hasbro used the Cobra Commander v6 mold instead of the v5 "flat back" from the Talking Battle Commanders. Still a cool figure, I have mine somewhere.

As is, I'm still baffled all these years later by the Cobra Commander figure: IIRC, he never sports a hood this early, and while the torso tooling is EXTREMELY close to his comic portrayal, I don't get why Hasbro didn't commit the tooling to a proper face plate head sculpt to match the comic (especially since the head was a new tool to begin with)

I think the presumption was that the tooling was lost somewhere along the way, considering even the 2000 figure used the same "flat back". And it probably wasn't deemed vital enough to spend the cost on recasting.

He's only shown in 3 panels toward the end wearing the helmet. He even says "...I shall now don my special combat helmet."

I still think the face plate would have been a better use of tooling (by 2004, the last time CC sported a face plate on a vintage figure was 1991 in the US, and it wasn't until the end of Spy Troops in 2003 he finally got a modern face plate figure)
