The line manager of GI Joe must be the twin brother of Michael Scott (The Office). He does not know anything about his product; does care to know; and will say anything to make a profit.
I mean come on, Resolute; how much did they promote that puppy and now look; it is dead. They will probably not release the animation as they said they intended to waaaay back at JoeCon of 2008. It will probably end up released as a DVD packed with re-paints of the current Resolute pack figures. What? We do not even get a SE or Scarlett in Resolute style? That's how much behind it Hasbrow is? But in all the absolute best part they keep saying is the "..keep telling what you want because we listen to the fans...." Lets face it, if they really listened to the fans, we would still be getting 25th, we'd have a Covergirl.... but anything to make a profit.... |

I wouldn't be surprised if the Snowcat was painted in matching deco to the movie Rockslide, sold in the bravo vehicle class, and came with a movie version of Frostbite, Iceberg, or any of the other arctic joes.
I bet the Bivouac and other small playsets are going to be exclusives since Hasbro mentioned announcing them at SDCC. repainted in horrible colours, sans ski-pedos, and with a repainted Duke. |

The point was that the name was stupid. And the TF:Animated cartoon followed up on the heels of the movie, riding on the coattails of its popularity. Much like the "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon back in the 80s.
"Inspired by a true story" or "based on a true story" means that 90% of the time it has 10% relation to the real story and the rest has nothing to do with it. The cartoon uses the "Allspark" McGuffin from the movie and a few other similarities, but not much more. So I consider it "based" on the new movie more so than the G1 cartoon, if you ask me. It's its own continuity and canon, but if you can't see any similarities or can't realize that it was timed to coincide on the heels of the 2007 film, then I can't help you there. You know, if the 7-packs are the end of the classic line I will be disappointed. But I have to say it was a really good ride while it lasted. My only interest in Joe stuff was because of the awesome nostalgia that the modern updates gave me. I have zero interest in any of the movie figures (except maybe for some custom fodder). I really hope we get some more online "classic" 7-packs in late '09 or maybe in 2010. If not, it was one hell of a ride for sure! If they really are stopping future "classic" figures and if the movie line is a total failure then we all know that Hasbro shot themselves in the foot and have nobody to blame but themselves. Maybe, just maybe with a little glimmer of hope and optimism, they will listen to us, though.
They certainly know most of us will buy some classic figures if they ended up making them again after the movie line ended.

what an informative interview. basically, the movie is the death of the 25th line.
so..it looks like i'm done with collecting joes now, except for a few figures i am looking for on the shelves ('cause secondary market is probably gonna shoot through the roof with the news of the death of the line). the 7 packs are going to be out of my price range FOR SURE. i haven't seen any MSRPs for them yet, but i'm sure they'll be over $50...plus shipping. that sure did darken my weekend....

I for one AM NOT going to support the movie line. at first I was going to pick up a few pieces matbe 2-3. but now that Hasbro is totally shi@@ing on the Modern era line I'm not picking up one, single, solitary, piece of that line.every piece of the movie line has at lease the littlest thing that I don't like to make that easy.from springloaded (stupid) looking weapons, bad movie design. Silly name changing, repaints. Hell yeh I'm going to save a ton of money --and not because of Geico but because of the movie line
. When and if the the Modern line comes back I'll support it . But as of now screw Hasbro!!!! Hope others feel the same ,if not to each their own |
