Why does most everyone hate them so much? I dig them. They obviously dont get displayed with figures I have out on the shelves, but when my son I set up a battle then they are the best thing to have. Nothing like the Night Attack Chopper and ROCC pouring out missiles on helpless Cobra Troops.

Interesting find. Thanks for the post.
Now if we could get some clarification on what the hell they are, that'd be awesome. I mean, I KNOW what they are, but I hope we find out more down the road. Anyone message the seller? |

Wow folks are actually buying them. I mean, I like my prototypes because they're not like the mass production stuff too. But still, 150 bucks is a lot for something we're gonna be seeing soon enough.

No, the 25A line was not WILDLY successful. It was more successful than Hasbro expected it to be, but "wildly" successful would have earned it shelf-space equal to lines like Star Wars, Transformers, etc...
Collectors have a tendency to overinflate just how well the "modern era line" has done. It's made Hasbro some money, but it's not even close to what they're pulling in from TF or SW. The seeming scarcity of some items is due more to poor distribution and smaller production runs than everything selling out everywhere. All that having been said, I actually agree with you. Hasbro's going to trot out old molds...we've already seen it with the Ice Sabre. Of course, there's a very real possibility that these vehicles could be a combination of both 25A items that were postponed/cancelled and some future movie items. Mercenary 696 (and many of the other posters on this board and others) just hasn't been listening very well to what Hasbro has pretty explicitly spelled out several times now: The 25A or "classic" product is going away for the movie, and coming back after the movie. Or at least that's Hasbro's plan last we heard of it, and is in keeping with the business models that Hasbro has employed for their other major boys toy brands (Transformers and Star Wars). |

I checked the ended items listings for that seller and found the Twin Lightning with Recondo (listed as FLAK and Outback). After seeing those future release 7 packs from last month, I now believe that Hasbro is going to discontinue the "Modern/25th" line and continue with the movie only. It makes me wonder what other vehicles they had planned like the ferret and S.N.A.K.E. armor.
now, we see the Silver Mirage with a launcher (as well as the remolded Firebat), which most likely means these are being "upgraded" into movie toys like the Ferret was. Not sure how you can add launchers to the Whirlwind though, be interesting to see how/if that is released. Disappointingly, most of the upgrades to the classics really look bad, that Firebat is just a mess ~ only tempting thing for me would be the Whirlwind if it came in a decent colorscheme. i think that set was wished for, but never even rumored from official sources ~ the "Wetsuit" from the 7 pack is a repurposing of "Diver Duke" from an upcoming comic pack ~ we saw pages from the comic posted here, and for whatever reason his design was basically Wetsuits.

I never suggested that 25A was as successful as TF or any other line. It is "wildly successful" in that it continually exceeded Hasbro's expectations. Even AFTER improving distribution, pegs were continually empty (at least, they were in my part of the world). So if Hasbro didn't increase production/distribution even more, that's their problem, but what they were putting out was getting bought.
If it hadn't been doing well, I doubt it'd have carried on this long. I'd be completely happy with them making it online only, since I think they can use shelf-space in stores better for toys that actually sell to kids, and aren't geared so much to collectors. |

That first Mirage looking cycle looks like it comes with another Resolute Duke the mold from the new 5 pack.
The Whirlwind is kind of cool we need something to tow behind the VAMP and it does look like Recondo except he looks bald. The Firebat figure looks a little like Airborne. The Stingraider figure I have no clue on that one. The movie Cobra gunship looks like it comes with the movie version of Wild Weasel. Quote:

Yeah, I mean, the assumptions seem pretty good. Hasbro's official word on it though, is what I was referring to. We saw none of this at Toy Fair, and it seems fairly finished. Odd to leak via eBay this early if it's much farther out.

That Whirlwind is missing bigass missiles though... I figured they'd slap them on instead of the gun barrels.
Not that I want them on there, quite the opposite actually. I understand about the missiles thing selling to kids, though, which makes it a good chance these will be repurposed/shifted to the movie line. |
