Checked a "more local" WM today. 3 pegs (with some wave 2) of comic-packs & 4 pegs for singles (bare) already set up... good times AHEAD!!

I walked into Wal-mart this morning to confusion. There were no Joes, and no Star Wars figures in sight. I could tell that they were in the middle of moving everything, but I don't understand why there were three aisles of Cars and Spider-man toys, and not one carded Star Wars figure. I haven't seen it like that since 1995.

My local Wal-Mart didn't stock Joes but a few days ago I saw the modular papers and saw they would have 4 pegs for singles and 3 for comic packs. Well I walked in today after work and while the area where the Joes and Transformers will be was still full of cheap toy sets I saw a lone hooded Cobra Commander. Maybe when they reset I will see wave 5 singles and wave 2 comic packs. I can only hope.

call me a short bus passenger, but i don't understand this retail lingo. do modulars stand for the shelving and rearangement of the aisles. or restocking everything and leaving the arrangement as is? i have been told on the phone that the "mods" are going down as if i know the slang. what am i missing here and why does nothing look different when i walk into these stores while the mod is going down and everything looks the same, barren and over run with wrestling and spider-man figures.

Don't worry A.V.A.C., I have a feeling there are a lot of either really savvy Joe fans on this board who have been at this game of dealing with retail workers and their lingo for many years, or they have worked or do work at retail stores themselves.
You're on the right track with what you've said. I don't know all the lingo either, but the important part to me is that the 'reset' appears that it should be completed at most stores by 1/14. I walked into one Walmart today that had the change sheets posted on the pegs in the toy aisle, indicating where all of the goregous new Joes and Joe comics packs will go, but this type of blatantly obvious reset is not indicative of what I'm seeing at other Walmart stores. I guess some are just more clandestine about it, and this one...not so much. |

Walmart in Washington, IN (hour north of e-ville) has Wave 1 & 2 comic packs in place, as well as a 'GI Joe flag' indicating its section. No singles though. Looks like we should start seeing them coming in soon! Snatched myself Torch/Ripper and Destro/Breaker. Only open the Destro/Breaker set in order to swap heads.

hey stygian, i thought you were supposed to be the official know it all? just kidding, i have never seen a change sheet. there's no changin' going on aroun' here. just some crickets chirping on the shelves and a jingle in my head as i walk down the aisles "the times are not a changing" (enter harmonica).

My Walmart source tells me that it drops on the 14th and it must be completed by the 21st. It's the entire toy dept. One aisle normally takes a full shift, so depending on the store the mod could be done by the 15th or on the 21st. |
