I just talked to another Joe fan who saw a preview tonight. His review was exactly opposite of Fran's. To each his own I suppose. I will still see it for myself, but I'm not expecting it to really wow me. And it will be the non-3D version. I have yet to see a movie where 3D really made the difference. Every time it just became a distraction from the story.

Yes. The best part about it was I got to see the Armored Vehicle explode in his face and land on him in 3D. I swear they did that on purpose for the hard core fans to have something to high-five about. It was worth the extra cost for the 3D ticket just for that.

No. Some of the actual toys are slightly based on what is in the film, but are poor versions of the real film versions. Obviously the AWE, Tread Ripper, HISS, Sting Raider, and Ghost Hawk II have counterparts in the real film; the movie versions for the AWE, Ripper, and Ghost Hawk look better than what we got. I'm so-so on the movie HISS, but the Sting Raider wasn't too bad. There is a Sky Hawk-ish helicopter for Cobra that should have been a toy, but that's the only new vehicle not seen in most commericals.

It does seem like the toys that were released for the movie line were inspired by what was in the film but Hasbro had to be really conservative with what they released to they didn't extend themselves, hence the releases of older molds. There is a good chance that this movie could propel the franchise forward in a similar way to the Transformer Movies did. There is a lot to like and the movie going public could choose Retaliation or the Host(Twilight with aliens instead of sparkle vampires) this weekend.

I waited and there was no after credit clip at the showing that I saw. It did feel like there was a lot of scenes not present that we did see in trailers and clips. Also the silent interlude homage fight seemed to be faster than in the 4 minute clip. The whole mountain scene was excellent. There was so much action and so much story.

Keep an eye out at the start of the film, they explain the prison and it went by quick but did I see Major Bludd? I really think a Destro driven movie should be next with Cobra B.A.T.'s as the main enemy. You can kill robots in movies without getting the R stamp.

Killing Duke, I think the fan base overreacted on that one. Any other ROC Joes die?

My Idea:
While in control of the United States Government and it's military during the events of Retaliation, Cobra steals the recently mothballed accelerator suits and utilizes their technology to quickly build an army of easily-replacable soldiers that feel no pain, never tire, never question command, possess super-human levels of strength, agility, speed, and will die fighting to the very end, far beyond the abilities of a normal human. Enter: The B.A.T.s! "Where soldier's fail, B.A.T.'s prevail!" Also, they could rework the B.A.T.s "tendency to explode when shot from the back" as a fail-safe self-destruct to take out any enemies around it during combat when they become too damaged for repairs. At the same time, this self-destruction would also destroy the B.A.T. to the point where the Joes and other world militaries could not take it's remains for study or reverse engineering.
