If I were hasbro, I would be seriously concerned about the timing of this movie release. With people losing their homes, their jobs, their pensions, they are supposed to shell out $20 for themselves, and another $20 for each of their kids to see a summer flick? Then go spend $ on the toyline even though their kids probably havn't seen anything GI Joe before in their lives unless their father is a joe collector? Sometimes things just come down to timing and this feels more and more like really bad timing for a Joe flick, whether we like it or not.
so, although the movie may fare well, if parents don't have money to spend afterwards, that will effect the sales of the toys, which is where Hasbro is anticipating making their money from the film. |

I'll have to see a better pic of the Pit to determine if it will be worth it. The cobra SUV thing looks pretty neat and I'll def. get that.
Also, Snake Fries... awesome. The figures don't look TOO bad, I'll probably pick up several of them. At least the Baroness, I've always wanted to hold Sienna Miller, lmao! |

They should have redone the shuttle base, terrordome or the rolling thunder. Even with electronics and missles I'd buy either of those at full price.
mobile command center "the pit" looks really bad right now. This is only really based on the original mobile command center's transport mode. Why could'nt they have just stayed with that realistic transformation! This batcave transform is lousy. I like those elevators. anyone know hoe much a vintage command center runs? Quote:
So when do we get a cobra commander voice changer helmet? (realisticly duke helmet...wasted potential.)

actually, box office gross are up right now. people are going to the movies, so the movie could be fine. unfortunately for Hasbro, I read they don't share in those profits because they essentially sold the rights to Paramount to make the movie and bare no financial ramifications whether it flops or is a hit.

Don't bother trying to have any conversation with gunslingerillogicalroboto, hes just a messag eboard bot that condradicts and agrues with everything that triggers a specific "illogical" notion. It is futile to have any conversation with him politicoviper.
And don't hold your breathe gunslingercbr, I am onto your rantless rants of never ending logical fluff of illogical nonsense. |

Mostly movies that don’t create an appeal with children. I’ll use the Marvel movies as an example. Spiderman toys are the second biggest boys toy after Transformers. That’s a fact. It resonates with kids and they love it. The so-called “toy experts” online piss and moan about shelf space Spiderman movie toys got and how they are peg warmers, but yet they outsell everything except Transformers. Oh, how the eye test fails many experts. Of course, they don’t generally want the truth about sales, they simply want to piss and moan and pretend they know more than people who spend their 8 hour days making and selling toys.
But Hulk, while a comic property as well, doesn’t seem to generate that excitement. It was a box office disappointment and failed to capture children’s enthusiasm for the toys. Not because it was based on a movie, but probably because they don’t find Hulk that exciting apparently. The likelihood that G.I. Joe is a box office hit but the toys fail is probably minimal. The two are probably correlated. Indiana Jones seems to be an exception, in that it was a huge hit the movie toys failed miserably. That brings other possibilities? Perhaps, while kids love the movie, they find the toys boring. Or maybe they don’t associate the movie with toys and don’t seek to play out the adventures with toys. But the key for any movie toy to succeed is for the movie to generate excitement with children and then transform that into great toys that kids will want to play with. A lot of movie toys fail in that regards. The problem with the Indy toys is most where crap and everyone wanted 1or2(I bought the Indy&horse and RPGIndy) It didnt help that they had a 1,000 Indys & Mutts, to many troop builders, and not enough Short Round type characters. |
