Can anyone tell me why Battle Kata Roadblock has one white semi-auto holder? That makes absolutely no f-ing sense. I painted mine black and be done with it, and I'd imagine most collectors will also, but the decision on Hasbro's part to go this route baffles me completely.
And for my part I have much less problem with Lady Jay's head sculpt. Doesn't look a thing like the actress, but that's okay. At least it's not cross-eyed Bruce Willis. And the other WTF for this line- $10 for singles! Back when the first movie hit Hasbro mentioned that price point was the major factor why their singles didn't sell well at retail. So their answer to this... is to jack up the price even higher?! I get that it's now 3 years later and obviously inflation applies, but $10 a figure still seems high. Hasbro charges that for their high end SW figures and even that seems egregious. I just don't get this trend at all. Last edited by Stygian; 02-26-2013 at 04:43 PM.. |

Have you felt the plastic? It's so cheap. I passed up on the new figures because they are using cheap flimsy plastic. Hasbro is cutting corners on these. I have so many figures already, I'll wait and see if they go back to 30th quality. If not... I am done with buying new joes. I am not suggesting others not buy them, I am just reminding people, we need to voice our concerns about style and quality.

The market, not the buyers but the manufacturing/distribution, dictates what the price will be. Cost of plastic, cost of distribution, cost of manufacture, cost of marketing, etc..., etc.. If Hasbro, and retailers, could be selling these for less don't you think they would be? Yes, $10 a figure sucks, but it is what it is.

Wave 3 overall, and the 3 packs are very similar to 30th quality. |

The added accessories and stands in the pictures make it difficult to tell exactly what the figures come with.

Pardon my cynicism (if cynicism it be)... but frankly no. They are in the business of making profit, both for themselves and by consequence their shareholders. I'm not saying they have jacked up the price on these Joes in order to rake in profits at the expense of common sense or current market forces, but simply assuming Hasbro is attempting to sell these at a rock bottom price is... ignorance. Not calling you out as ignorant btw, Troy. Just saying the practice of assuming beneficence on the part of our beloved company is... kinda dangerous.

It really depends on which figure. Wave 1 overall felt cheap. Some figures from wave 2 feel cheap but I did not buy them all. I have Battle Kata Roadblock, Sneak Attack Storm Shadow and Ninja Duel Snake Eyes. Of the 3, Snake Eyes feels rubbery but the other 2 are solid. It's a shame because Snake Eyes is most likely going to be one of the top sellers in the wave.
Wave 3 overall, and the 3 packs are very similar to 30th quality. The more articulation a figure has, the more points of failure it has, "bendy plastic" makes the failure much less likely during normal play. Quote:

The raising costs were what led Hasbro to commit the resources to producing 5 POA figures across ALL of its licensed initiatives this year. Considering how much Hasbro has resisted doing such in prior years says that they reached a point that can't maintain EVERYTHING kids and collectors want and still make the product affordable. $10 Joes suck, but the other options? For $6 you can get endless repaints of the same stuff we've been seeing in prior years (Dollar General/Specialty Market figures), or if you insist on $5 at mass retail, probably product on par with the new Star Wars Saga Legends and Marvel movie lines.

You have all made excellent arguments, but if we are to pay $10 or more per single pack figure, I think that they should all be of equally good quality. They should at least have the articulation that the ROC figures had. All vehicles should be made of comparable quality to the POC Vehicles. Lastly, they really need to stop F*cking with the female heads. Somewhere between Prototype and release, the tooling process is causing all kinds of bobble headed females. They are extremely ugly!
