Interesting to see which brands really matter to Hasbro right now and which are apparently just "stay the course and don't mention at all" or barely worth a mention except as part of a larger initiative (*coughJoecough*).
So not that I'm 100 percent up on what all the corporate gobbledygook means, but if I'm understanding correctly the basic "point" of the whole presentation is "Our blueprint-activated brands are doing well." So...why exactly are they not doing a "blueprint activation" on G.I. Joe? Amazed to see that Magic the Gathering is a big deal for Hasbro. This being an investor event, it's no surprise that they basically completely glossed over any problems any other brands were having. You know like product even making it to the freaking stores? Or Lucasfilm pulling the rug out from under them not once, but twice now with the 3D conversions (though I'm sure that sting is soothed by knowing they have license at least long enough to rake in the dough from Episode VII product). |

It's kind of worrisome, though. You'd think Hasbro would have more to say with a major media tie-in launching in a couple months, but this just seems like Hasbro's all but written off the possibility that it might expand the brand already. But ehn...who knows? Maybe they'll blow our socks off tomorrow (and then again at Joe Con in a couple months).

Maybe they're holding JOE back for if/when Transformers dies down... What am I saying? That's a stupid idea. These people want that money. They wouldn't pass up opportunities to acquire said money.
The only other conclusion is that Hasbro is incompetent and cannot handle more than one major brand at a time. Otherwise, I don't see why JOE doesn't have all the same treatment as TFs do. Call of Duty is one of the biggest things of the last decade. It just seems right to target that audience and the kids who will be playing those games in a couple of years. Gamers and toys go a it hand in hand. It's not a far jump to conclude that some would love to have a cool looking ARMY or Marine looking guy on the shelf next to them.

Actually gamers and toys DON'T go "hand in hand" despite feeling like they should.
If they did, many toys would be selling a lot better, and Halo would be the biggest toy franchise on shelves right now. Nevermind that if Hasbro wanted to make Call of Duty figures they'd have to pay the game publisher to license the brand, which makes G.I. Joe look weak as a brand (since it's not strong enough to survive without hitching itself to another brand) which turns off investors and retailers alike.... |

I should have been more clear by hand in hand. I'm not talking about entire toy lines, but gamers pick up a lot of things that have to do with games they love. I KIND of like Halo and I bought a figure for it. Now the Micro Ops stuff is out and I like those a lot. They make good desk fodder.
